CPA's that don't cause attacks?

Hey everyone,

finally have a game going where we didn't get killed after getting our first 10 planets :)

I have to say, one of my favorite parts are the CPA's where you get large attacks in an unknown system (Depending if you have a multiple front situation). Altough, the last 3-4 CPA's of 10k+ once the timer reaches 0, the CPA warning disapears and no attacks ensue. The boardering planets don't get reinforcements and that's it. Nothing.

This is different than in the begining of the game, is there something that happens post mid game where the CPA's stop being directly sent to you and just stockpile on the homeworld? (Speculation, haven't observed this).

I've seen this as well, a cross planet attack of 2000 (two thousand) results in an threat increase of 200 (two hundred, not a typo), but no major attacks ever come from the CPA.

I had this happen in v3.0.6 (the last official patch).  It's a bug and I believe it only happened at difficulty 8+.  And I think the bug's been fixed.

Yes, there was weirdness in CPA "allocation".  When the timer runs out, it actually goes and picks existing ships to free to meet the "quota"; the logic determining which tech levels and such it could pick had a number of issues that should be fixed in the 3.120 official.

I saw this happen in 3.120; I'm 100% sure of it.

Ok, that would be very helpful :)  Any time after the CPA announcement and before the expiration of the timer (preferably close to the expiration) is good, because then I can step through the allocation logic.

Note that there are some circumstances where a CPA just won't be able to allocate enough ships, because they're not there, but generally this won't be the case.

Yea, I guess we could look at having it converting any "unspent" allocation into a ship-spawning reinforcement/wave.  Sounds preferable to mysteriously disappearing (from the player perspective).

Or check that there are actually 2000 units available before saying that 2000 will come in the CPA.

Over an hour can pass between those two checks, making such a proposed preliminary check of fairly limited value in actually dealing with the problem.  I had thought of doing just that, though ;)

yup this happened in the latest official release. We played it on Friday night, got a 11k CPA warning... never happened. :(

Would you like the savefile? Or do you specifically want a savefile that is while a CPA warning is present?

There's still the thing where ships need a deployment timer where they'll go anyway after a certain time regardless of whether there are enough to trigger the "meaningful raid amount" deployment switch...
Avid League player and apparently back from the dead!

If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!

Yes, a save with the warning still present would be really great :)

And yes, an override "just go through the stupid wormhole" timer is needed, though having a case where they're actively getting stuck is helpful to test against.

double checked, and I don't have such a savefile. I'm hosting another sessions something this weekend, i'll keep an eye for a CPA and save the game when it happens. :)

well, it makes you pretty worried when the fleet you have been waiting for is this waiting for you to move and take over when weak
