I'm on Windows 7 (UK) and used plain old notepad so far... but that might be the problem right there.

Yeah, I think it works with CRLF only.  I'm not sure where all the pure CRs came from, apparently that was not you or me.

Ingame, the new auto-wrap is working fine. But because of that, some manually defined line-breaks that were done beforehand look ugly right now.

Whew, good!  Yes, I think there are a few manual line break issues only, though, which is good.  And overall, the automatic is a nice "sanity check" for if it gets corrupt or does not read the LFs right, or whatever.  When I opened up the DEcurrent2, it was not wrapping at all because the game doesn't read CRs right either.  So aside from converting that to LFs when the game reads those files, I also made it so that it autowraps to at least prevent the game from ever becoming unplayable in the worst cases.

Installing notepad++ right now...

Cool!  It's a good program for sure, in general.

Notepadd++ is different from regular Notepad that comes with windows.  Much better program in all ways, but a little more complex too.

When will there be a german addon-version?

Of Notepadd++, or AI War? For AI War, the schedule and availability of the German version is based on the schedule of the German publisher, but I think it will be in the Feb/March timeframe.  That will be at retail, and also on some online retailers.  Or, to see the German text in your English copy of AI War, at the moment you can use the DEcurrent3 versions that people have helped to translate; I don't have rights to include the German localization as part of the main AI War package, unfortunately.

Ready for gold master, double-checked all pop-ups  ;)

There is a lot free space within the "weak against" category on some ships, maybe you should check what is causing this.

Oh, haha, gotcha. Same here. :)

I mainly develop and design stuff in Mac OS and Gentoo Linux, my Win7 installation is just for gaming  ;D

I don't have rights to include the German localization as part of the main AI War package, unfortunately.

Meaning, we cannot fix further problems with the translation, once the retail is out? How sad  :(
I suppose TGC will push out their own updates with updated translations as the game progresses?

Hmm, that is odd.  I will look at it.

Well, they have said they are happy to have the community continue to help with that.  So, I'll be able to keep posting the current translation as I'm doing here.  I just can't distribute it with the game itself, at least under our current understanding.  They'll be selling German-only versions of the game, online and off, and the updates from the English version will be the same that are used for the German side.  The translations of the German override anything done in the English, but anywhere there is a gap in the German it will failover to the English.  I guess I will need the help of the community to then keep the German versions up to date with their translations, but I have not yet figured out all of the logistics of how I will distribute that.

Touché ;)

I think TGC is a good choice the synchronisation in "Goin' Downtown" is great :)

So, I'll keep my fingers crossed.  :D

Okay, as of version 3.023, here is the current version of the translation.  Most likely this is the version that will be "going gold."

Found something:

a still unfixed line break
ship names are differing
AI types are not translated in all spots. Just found some English ones while playing

Can there still be changes made? If yes, I think can quickly do these.

Mir is was aufgefallen:

searched for the english names for the AI types but I couldn't find them. The game doesn't take them from the xml files in this case I think. It's the spot in the bottom right corner of the screen, where the score is shown.

I fixed this line break issue. Just replace this single line in the file:

<ln id="ControlNodeFRDLimitedTo80000_Desc">Schiffe I'm FV-Modus greifen keine Ziele an, die weiter als 80.000 Meter entfernt
sind. Das kann nützlich sein, um Schiffe davon abzuhalten, Plünderer zu verfolgen und dabei verstreut zu werden, es sei denn, das ist dein Plan.</ln>

I think this non-matching-ship-type issue might be a bit complex because you have to replace the names in many different places and also the one or other AI type might need a change, at least in its description. And if you change the AI type's name don't forget to change it everywhere in each xml file. I don't have time for this now  :(

I updated all the language files and added missing language strings that was missing because of the last patch (3.0.6.0), the game was crashed in the Host menu, this should fix it. But it did not translate all entries to german, because i don't know wich is the right translation, someone else must complete this please
