Drumlin,

finished the main.xml but I didn't see your proposals in time. No I don't want to continue anymore, at least for now. ;D

take a look at this thread to get the news for the finished main.xml

http://arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,3423.0.html

I included the changes to the tutorial section of the main menu into the file, attached below.

And I took the freedom to replace Karten-Samen with Karten-ID. Sorry...Karten-Samen is just horrible.

I changed the ship.xml with most of the suggestions I made in Cydonias thread. I only used suggestions which shortened the sentences or corrected the grammar. I did not check if it fits into textboxes in the game. Change-Log is attached.

It is somewhat confusing to have to discussions about the translation in two places...can we focus on one?

Edit: @ cydonia: could you collect all updated files and attach them in one of your post? It would be good to have them in one place.

Looking wonderful, from what I can tell as a non-German speaker!  I am glad this is becoming a more pleasant translation for you guys, as well, getting rid of the various strangenesses.  A few notes (let me know if I am missing any comments directed at me, but I think this is all of them):

- I think that eRe4s3r's suggestions about short ways of saying advanced factory are right on.  Something referencing it as a more advanced shipyard (Prototyp Schiffswerft or similar) might be the best way to go.

- Regarding Cydonia's question about the "Resources and Wormholes" section, those are the little pieces of text on the filter button to the left of the minimap in the game.  They stand for Normal, Military, Resources/Wormholes, and Enemy.

- drumlin, thanks for checking out the tutorials, I am glad that that is looking readable so far.  The line breaks in the individual tutorials (tutorialsteps.xml) and in the ship tooltips (ships.xml) are I think the most critical aspects remaining, most of the other really important stuff is all in main.xml, which it sounds like you're all getting pretty comfortable with.

- I will take a look at the ß tomorrow and see if I can't get that looking any better in the in-game font.  Sometime in the morning (EST) is when I will also release the 3.017 beta version that will have the sizing fixes in the settings menu, as well, and if there are more changes that are still needed to fit some elements I can do another release later in the day.  Today I've been mostly asleep, having hit a certain point of exhaustion, and I'm about to go back and get some more.  Should be nice and recharged for tomorrow and the rest of the week.

- One comment about the links to the videos and the wiki in the tutorials section, too: perhaps there should be a note that this are links to online resources in English only so that German-only speakers are not disappointed or confused when they come across?

Yes, let's use this thread and close the other one!

Collect all update files?

Cydonia, Drumlin - sehr gute Arbeit.

Cydonia - main.xml
Snowman - ships.xml

I'm entsprechenden Pop-up habe ich auch Karten-ID eingesetzt.

----

@X: the buttons for cancel and save are to small to hold their german counterparts. maybe have them resize automatically depending on the text?

mir sind da ... oh ... sry  ;D

I've found some very small things in the first quick look:

techs:

(sounds better, I think)

(maybe not the best, but the current one sounds a bit like google ;) )

aimods:

<ln id="DoubleWaves">2x Feindwellen</ln>
<ln id="HalfWaves">1/2 Feindwellen</ln>

"Feindwellen" --> "feindliche Wellen" (I don't think "Feindwellen" is a real german word.  ::) )

Klingt gut!

"Angriffswellen" sounds great!

I started with the second and third tutorial, but I will only finish tomorrow evening. I am just telling, so we do not do things twice.
I do not know if I have time to do the intermediate tutorial. (the campaign).

A general problem in the second tutorial: The steps where you have to build metal and crystal harvesters are somewhat confusing - you can not construct these, as they are already built by the command center. It would be god to either change this for the tutorial, or I can add a note that they are automatically build, and only have to be rebuild when destroyed.

I've done the minor changes.

"ökonomisch" --> "wirtschaftlich" sounds much better now.

Where did you find "Ökonomischen Schiffen (ÖKO)" ?

Ok, the second tutorial is finished, see attached.

in addition to the problems above, I found another grammer mistake. When I research something, it says "Du freigeschaltet Mobiles Reparaturdock", for example. Now, yoda-speech this is.

The correct sentence would be "Du hast "insert technology" freigeschaltet".  Is there a way to change this? Would soundmuch better. (Edit: changed)

In the main.xml (simply search for ÖKO), we could use WRT there as the button text or WIRT.

The correct sentence would be "Du hast "insert technology" freigeschaltet".  Is there a way to change this? Would soundmuch better.

Maybe use "Soeben freigeschaltet: [Technologie]" or simply "Freigeschaltet: [Technologie]".

Hm. I tried it in the campaign, there the text is ""Player" freigeschaltet "Technology". This is not better. ""Player" erforscht: "Technology"" would be working in all cases.

Edit: I made the change.  However, it is still not correct in the tutorial, because the player name there is "you". But I guess this is a minor fault. (Would be correct if the player name in the tutorial is simply "Spieler").

I can't make them easily autosize for a few reasons (stupid GDI stuff), but I will change it so that there is more room on them.  Thanks!

I don't want to edit the main.xml, because others are working on it.
Maybe someone of them could do this.

I've used WRT btw ;)
