Call for Screenshots for 7.0/VotM release
« on: June 04, 2013, 05:45:43 pm »
We're less than two weeks from release, and we'd like to have some awesome screenshots to accompany the marketing material and such.  We can come up with some ourselves, but we'd certainly like community submissions as y'all have far more time to play this game than we do :)

Thanks!

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

I assume the screenshots should be taken with the default nebula intensity setting. Right?
set /A diff=10
if %diff%==max (
   set /A me=:)
) else (
   set /A me=SadPanda
)

I may need to include a disclaimer on any shots from you saying "Do NOT try this at home.  Only YOU can prevent CPU fires."

But yes :)

In 6.0 the default was 100%; as of 6.022 I changed it to 60% though I just now fixed a bug where that wasn't being used for everyone.  After changing it to 60% I asked y'all if it should be lower and I don't think anyone said so.  It can go lower, though :)

In any event, you can use any graphical settings you like, but if it's all black background (all disable-able things disabled) then it's somewhat less likely we'll use it unless the foreground is so interesting that the lack of background isn't apparent.

This one is from way back, but it's still the most awesome I've managed to produce.
If warheads can't solve it, use more warheads.

Quite awesome indeed.  That was after an endgame gambit involving multiple nuclear warheads, right?

How the hell did you need 9 nuclear warheads? Doesn't 1 do the trick?

Three planetary strikes, and six for a ~6000-ship raid engine wave (this was back when carriers were immune to nukes).

Since then the R&D team pulled several all-nighters developing anti-fridge nukes.

Well, surely a fridge couldn't survive six nukes... at the same time
Edit: Also, THAT was not an obscure reference.

The MacroMaytag Polycrystal Refrigerated Enclosure was actually rated to withstand up to thirty-six simultaneous detonations.

Was.

I would be blown away if you could actually nuke something nuke immune 36 times and actually have it die. Do I smell another alternate victory condition?
