Consider adding Partial Shared Allied Control
« on: June 04, 2013, 08:43:06 am »
Please consider allowing marking SOME units to be used for other players, not whole Shared Allied Controls.

Reason:
- A player playing solely a Champion would love to have some forces (aside the Champion) to operate with higher efficiency.
- I want to pass to a Champion player some units, say, MK2 and MK3 while MK1 and Plasma Siege Starships are behind, on defense.
- I don't want to pass all my units to a Champion player. Shared control cost us a game several times - my ally accidentally took more ships than intended.

Having this option, I could pass some units (in the best case: all my outputs from several dedicated factories and a set of engineers) to another player, so I can focus on macro-level and higher strategy and she will deal with the micro-level and tactics.

Can you gift the units instead?

I'd say you guys need to be more careful and communicate better. Also if something goes wrong you can just load an autosave.
set /A diff=10
if %diff%==max (
   set /A me=:)
) else (
   set /A me=SadPanda
)

For a variety of reasons, I'd say a "gift control of unit" button would be awesome.

Another situation where it might come up would be the Fallen Spire stuff, since all the Fallen Spire units default to being under player 1's control.  If someone other than player 1 wants to be the one managing the Spire, it's not really possible without turning on full shared unit control.

If I did this it would probably have to be via having a share-control toggle at the control group level, so you can just put the stuff you want to loan in that control group.  But gifting ships to a champ-only player would probably never work right.

A share control by control group toggle would solve the issue nicely, methinks.

Shared control over control groups would be more than enough for us :-).
