The only problem is exo-waves.

Edit: sorta like part of Fallen Spire, actually. Is there a relation here keith? ???

Well exo waves spawned outside your turf so they get wonderfully bloodied by the grey spire...doubly so if you gate raid everything so everything comes from at least two hops outside your turf.

Scorched galaxy, anyone?

I really wish I kept better notes!

It's late game, and now more then ever the Dark Spire dominate. Threat level now jumps a lot but hangs around 10k. A fully shielded spire battleship can't make a deepstrike to the ai hw without dying first, and any ai threat simply cannot get through the mass either.

Hooray!
Dark Spire: Because to heck with your war, now stay in your seats you two. :P
Mission accomplished? Sort of? I mean if the dark spire can be easily pushed back and the AI is toasted to bits as soon as it sends in ships, then humans can live relatively peaceably. I mean, I know we're supposed to eradicate our horrible mistakes and all, but I'd say not being under imminent annihilation under an ironclad defense is a pretty solid life for a race.

I'd say it's time to pull a battlestar galactica. Black out a few massive ships, load everyone on board, and get the heck out of Dodge. Leave the AI and the Dark Spire to duke it out.
I would not mind you in my head if you were not so clearly mad.

Is there any sort of notification of when a vengeance generator hits critical mass, or does it just ... happen?

It just happens.  You can see the ships spawn.

Advanced logging will log it, if you're curious about what's actually happening and exactly when.

Just to clarify Keith,

is it so that if you merely bump into a Dark Spire world on 10/10 with it on 10, does it insta reach critical mass?

I'm not complaining (not at all! I never have uttered varying forms of yay over such a feature) I'm just making sure I'm satisfying my sadistic tendencies, and to make sure I'm not observing something odd.

The amount of "strength" that has to die on a generator planet to reach the "spawn something" threshold is not higher or lower on 10/10 AIDiff or 10/10 faction-intensity.  The faction-intensity does multiply the strength of the spawn, and impact the number of vengeance generators seeded in mapgen.

Have you looked at the DarkSpireMinorFactionLogicLog.txt file after revving it up a bit? :)

Not yet, I'm just observing empirically that having my champ die on with 10/10 dark spire 10 on a dark spire world causes a chain reaction of eventually having 10k threat roam the galaxy. In part because the guardians on said world didn't immediately become alerted with dark spire toasting individual guard posts at first.

And, as much as I like Dark Spire, maybe having the equivalent of a sneeze destroy the galaxy is a bit much.

My fellow Dark Spire users!

Try to place some rally points in various AI border worlds and your worlds and tell me what you see  ;)

Um, isn't that sort of over-reaction intended if you crank a minor faction to 10? Heck, the game even warns you of such absurd over-reactions when in the part of the tool-tip describing what the scale does.

Your right, I just had the RNG hit me hard I guess.

In my current AAR the galaxy didn't completely blow up with over 10K with a sneeze, although it it is the same as the map. The threat spiked to 4k, hectically attacked my HW as it went down to 2k, then intermittently attacked till 700. I wonder that so since special forces were most established in this game it effected their progress.

I'm still hoping to get dark spire to either:

A) Be immune to black hole generators
or
B) Be allowed to destroy AI black hole generators

So their tens of thousands of ships don't sit on one world, clogging up game performance.

I tried Dark Spire 10 and it was amazing.  I feel I won in a way, considering that massive danger the AI is now in.  After I lost, I just put the game on fast forward and watched the dark spire sweep through in a tsunami of destruction.  I find it funny that I took a screenshot of exactly what you described without having read this page of the thread yet.
