Hi all,

Please excuse me if this question has been covered elsewhere, I've searched for a while now and just can't find anything that would explain the situation that I'm observing. I'm a player of low skill level, playing my first game of 5.0 against two difficulty 5 AIs. All expansions are owned, but disabled through the start menu for this first game. The two AIs are Mine Enthusiast and Entrenched Homeworlder.

Starting from my homeworld in Rowiaki, I pushed north and destroyed a Counterattack Guard Post on Nuhartch. The counter attack targetted Yarock, and I had plenty of time to get my main fleet back there to meet the wave of around 300 AI ships. But after defeating the wave, small amounts of AI ships continue to trickle towards my command centre in Yarock. This has been going on for some time now after I cleaned up the counter attack wave as well as a seperate standard wave which co-incidentally targetted Yarock as well. I'm guessing that the rate of ships incoming is around 4 or 5 per minute (they mostly seem to be missile frigates). With a few turrets and a small mobile defence force, the steady flow of Mk 1 units is not really a problem per se, but I'd like to know what's causing them to continually spawn in the sector (or where they are coming from if they are from somewhere external). They seem to be coming predominantly from the bottom of the screen, but sometimes also from the left and the right.

I can attach a save if that would be helpful.

Is your Yarock command station perchance a miiltary command station?  They have translocating shots, flinging the targets hither and thither throughout the planet :)

Although that would only make sense if the ships were already on the planet. Unless the Yarock command station had developed a slow teleport. Someone should tell Dr. Kleiner. (at least a few people should get that reference, I hope) It seems like you're saying that the waves were all cleaned up a few minutes ago and there are now 0 enemies showing on the planet, but then they suddenly show up later? No cloakers or anything, right?

I have two hostile wormholes within range of the command station's electric attack. I'll check now that I know that military command stations have the ability to translocate attackers, but I'm guessing that stragglers were coming through the wormholes while I was away in another system, getting translocated and appearing to be coming from inside my own sector as the sniper turrets finished them off. I would never have known about that ability just from looking at the tooltip for the military command station. I'll observe the sector for a good while and see if you guys have nailed the problem for me. If I set up a few tractor beam turrets, will that stop the command station translocating the AI ships? Nevermind, I'll check myself now =)

Thanks to both of you for your kind replies.

EDIT: (N00b hint) It seems that tractor beams do indeed prevent enemies from being translocated. Since I have covered both hostile wormholes with tractor beam turrets the problem has not re-emerged.

I updated the military command station's tooltip in 5.001, it had slipped through for the official though.

You are by far not the only one to have no idea what was going on :)
