Bindings and In-Game Controls

There has been questions and comments about key bindings and in-game controls once in a while. I don't think new players know the importance of proper bindings and in-game controls. They also don't know how to use them. I didn't know it either when I was new to AI War. So I made these.. these are the bindings and controls I use.

Sure that's a lot of bindings but after a while you will remember all of them.
Galaxy view bindings are the most important.

You MUST use Auto-kite behavior. Set it to 1000 or something like that and all of your ships will auto kite.

New players might want to ENABLE "Auto-FRD Engineers". I have it disabled because I have 10 Engineers and 10 Remains Rebuilders on each whipping boy (Whipping boy = heavily fortified planet where the player takes the waves.). Half of them are on attack move under the Force Fields rebuilding and repairing turrets and Force Fields and the other half roam around.. and probably die when a wave comes. So that's why I have it disabled.. when a wave comes all Engineers and Rebuilders suicide and then you can't repair or rebuild anything. It takes some microing.. but It's better to disable Auto-FRD Engineers.

Brave Cloakers is disabled because I use them exclusively for protecting Warheads which always move separately from my fleet.

Riot Ship Designs: http://i.imgur.com/OdJ8Nt9.jpg
Defender design does 1440 Engine Damage per second, has 2 Force Fields and reduces engines' effectiveness to 40%.
Assault design does 990 Engine Damage per second and has only 1 Force Field but has much longer range and is able to damage the engines down to 25% effectiveness.

Defender is good vs Special Forces and other hordes.

Assault works well with long range ships like Zenith Bombards, Snipers and Missile Frigates.

I mostly use the Defender.

Leave questions below. You're welcome.

It may be a little out of date, but I still occasionally rely on my printable key reference when coming back to AI War after a dry spell:

If you'd like to help new players out, you should also describe what in the heck terms like "auto kite" and "whipping boy" mean. You're also quite welcome, Kahuna!

A little note: Players with champions will probably want to keep autokite at >5000 (keeps champ from wriggling away when you're trying to hide it under a Shadow Shield).

That AI War Pocket Reference is so cool!

When you mouse over "Auto Kiting" in the "In-Game Controls" menu you will get a description telling what it does.
Whipping boy = heavily fortified planet where the player takes the waves.

Ah, ok, that makes sense. I like to give my "whipping" planets horrifically dramatic titles like, "The Eastern Galactic Front," or "The Coreward Line," stuff like that.

BTW, I'm totally ok with anyone who downloads the pocket reference and mangles it, updates it, republishes it, whatever. Go nuts, I even put links to the source files for y'all. I plan on making a few minor updates to it myself once Vengeance hits the virtual shelves.

One thing that I've been wondering about for a while, in screenshots I see people having range circles for all their units displayed.  This seems like a rather handy thing for setting up defenses and such, but even though I've gone through all the controls and settings several times I've been unable to locate anything that will show them.  How do you display those?

IIRC, hold down Z. If you point at a specific unit, that circle should be highlighted.

It's in the Planet View tab page 2
