Beta Release Schedule
« on: December 27, 2010, 06:25:05 pm »
Do you guys have a release schedule for betas you try to meet (like one every Tuesday and Friday, or every 3 business days, or something), or is it pretty much whenever you feel like he current version is more or less playable?

It isn't released, it escapes.

Yea, it's basically when we feel like

1) There's enough-quantity or important-enough new stuff to warrant a release and:
2) It's stable (non-crashing, non-broken) to our knowledge.

This generally works out to every 1-3 days (Saturdays/Sundays often included).

And of course game breaking bugs (like saving not working) are fixed within an hour or two or something.

If Chris is on his computer, then generally that's true.

I don't recall any occasion where saving hasn't worked, or any sort of major issue with the game that renders the game literally unplayable.
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

I recall one prerelease that broke the save/load process, and there have been several that have had 75%-of-the-user-base-would-hit-this crash bugs.  They get fixed real quick though ;)

Yea, it was before the stable release of the Unity version. Its such a huge and funny oversight I'll never let you guys forget about it.  ;D

Who needs saves? Real men play 120 planet campaigns in one sitting hahahahaha

That wasn't a bug, that was a feature ;p

That's nothing.

Real men can play against two lvl 10 AIs, both either technologists or the core, both with 300% handicap, 2x waves turned on, and the player has -300% handicap, no cheats, and still win in less than 6 hours. All without saves of course.
