Raid ships not doing the correct damage?
« on: June 15, 2013, 03:12:53 pm »
My Raid mk II ship shows 204,800 damage and a x 4 for structural.  I was just using one to pick off a Missile guard post and the mouse over tool-tip shows only 51,200 damage which is 204,800 / 4.  The fighters next to it get the same damage indicator but the force field actually shows as receiving 204,800.  Shouldn't it actually be 204,800 for the fighters and guard post and 204,800 x 4 = 819,200 for the FF?  I thought it was just the tip showing wrong but if I just use one ship and watch the health it really only shoots for 51,200.  Looks like the multiplier is correct but the Raid ships attack is off by 4.  The Raid mk I was the same way but I didn't have enough K to try out the III.

in this game, ships that reduce the power of incoming lasers do exist (I believe). check the tooltips of surrounding enemy ships, maybe that's what's happening?

I'll have to double check but I don't remember anything like that in that system.  According to my wife I'm wrong more often than right so that's probably the case here.   :D

I hope that's the case since I've been curious how much they reduce the power of the lasers.

You were correct!  There was a Core Warhead Interceptor in that group.  I'd never noticed that was a benefit of having that nearby but it must reduce lasers by 75% to be showing those kinds of numbers.

Thanks for mentioning that.  I wouldn't have thought to check that particular unit since I assumed warhead snuffing was all it was good for.

Speaking of the core warhead interceptor, I believe the AI ignores it if captured.  I'd think that it'd be treated as an irreplaceable (high priority) target.

Except the AI never sends warheads after you.

The Neinzul Rocketry Corps minor faction does so I could see it targeting the Warhead Interceptor with lighting warheads (that would do nothing I know) but the AI doesn't care really.

Orbital Mass Drivers lower the power of nearby lasers too.

I didn't even know warhead interceptors and OMD's had that ability, but glad I could help :D
