Astro Trains doing anything?

So I turned on Astro trains this game and at first I was concerned about trains coming through my space.  But now, I just ignore them because they do only one thing, and they do that so badly I don't care.  This is because they only decloak mines.  That's it.  They do not shoot at ANYTHING.  EVER.  They just smile nicely to tractor turrets, grav turrets, reactors, command stations, force fields, fleet ships, starships, colony ships, command stations under construction, Advanced Research Stations, and everything else I've tried to get them to shoot at.  If they were any more friendly that be assisting my engineers.

Am I just missing something or is this a bug I should report?

Disappointed :(

Do you have a save?  There are a variety of astro trains and I don't recall offhand if there are any unarmed ones.

Yeah, I'll post it with a bug report on mantis when I get home.  I've seen tons of trains and I can't actually recall seeing any variety at all.  They all appear the same.  They are listed as having a bunch of low damage attacks (I think 21 dmg) but a huge multiplier vs like Turrets so I was expecting them to trash my turret defenses at least.

Anyway, I'll put that up tonight.

Well, that's what they are supposed to do anyway. I never use them since they are so bloody annoying :P There's also a few really dangerous trains. Such as regeneration trains and speed booster trains.

As I recall, trains got toned down because people complained about them being too disruptive. If anything you might want to petition an optional Super Train or Hybrid Train AI option.

I always turn them off because I never see the point of them, they just annoy me. :)

We can certainly consider a "Trains that really hurt" option, but from the sound of it the trains wouldn't even fire in the OP's game, which sounds like a bug.

It's not that they would have been very disruptive (though getting caught with a speed and/or regen train on one of your planets that's getting hit by a big AI attack can be surprisingly painful), but it should've been doing something :)

Yeah, honestly trains don't need to be too hugely disruptive, but they have to do something or why even have them :) .

Wrecking turrets is good.  Rebuilders just replace them anyway so that's not a big deal unless it is during an incoming attack.  Same for mines.  I'm honestly not sure that is really enough, but since I'm playing with broken trains I can't say how disruptive that would really be.
