  • If you're not drunk you're doing it wrong.
Which one says "Yes, change the current method to not fire off deep strike/raid engine?"  Yes/No is a bit ambiguous to me.

Anyway, I disagree with the CTRL option merely because I usually don't scrap those ships until they cause problems... otherwise the honeycomb/tractorwhatnot immediately comes back for more fodder.  Insta-scrap is going to get ugly, fast.
... and then we'll have cake.

One of the reason's why one should avoid phrasing a yes or no question as a negative? ;)

TBH, I think this is a big enough confusion to make the yes/no votes of this poll suspect.

I think it's pretty clear:

Make human ships tractored by AI ships not trigger deepstrike threat or raid engines?

Yes, or no?

If you say yes, then you mean to make human ships tractored by AI ships not trigger deepstrike threat or raid engines :)

I say no. Having tractored ships trigger raid engines is one of those cool emergent behavior things. Maybe eliminate Deepstrike only, since thematically it doesn't make too much sense.
I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.

Not that I'm the expert here but, doesn't the whole tractored ship activating the raid engine also not make sense? The AI owns it. They could just activate it if they wanted it activated.

Well, at least in my understanding, each AI planet is under its own localized control with separate awareness of Humans. The subrouting controlling the Raid Engine on planet A might not be aware of Humans until they are brought in via tractor.

This. I described this in another thread.

I like the emergent behavior on the part of the AI, and I like the idea of the ctrl option being a trade-off that can be exploited by the AI in other ways.

Think of it as a motion detector. Motion detector only alerts guards when it detects something.
I know there are murderers and other criminals (humans) out there but I'm not going to call the police (AI) because they're not my problem and I don't know where they are.

the abstain option seems very underrepresented.

Oh.
Well, that makes sense then. I guess I always had the AI pegged as some kind of god almost. As in, entirely networked and everything. The AI knows you're there and where you are, if it were really worried I figured it'd just turn on all the big guns and go, but I guess you can't just trigger your own motion detector when someone's annoyingly near it.

I agree the ctrl isn't all roses.

You get 100% security of not triggering the deepstrike / raid engine, while risking the ai slaughtering your ships on the front end.
Life is short. Have fun.
