Great News!

AI War: Fleet Command, AI War: The Zenith Remnant, and Tidalis have all been voted into the Top 100 Indie Games Of The Year! Thank you so much for all your support and votes.

Now, in order to get to the next round (TOP 10) we need people to get back on and vote some more. Luckily, you get up to THREE votes in the Top 100, so that works well for us. Here's what to do:

1) Follow this link:
http://www.indiedb.com/events/2010-indie-of-the-year-awards/top100

2) Scroll down the page some until you get to "Top 100 Release Indies
of 2010". Click on "Real Time Strategy", and a list of games should
come down.

3) The first TWO games you should see are "AI War: Fleet Command" and
"AI War: The Zenith Remnant". On the left of each game, there is a
button that says "VOTE". Click on those for each of these games.

4) Next, click on another category that says "Family". There you will
see "Tidalis" is the only game in that category. Click on "VOTE" on
the left of this game.

And that's it! The voting polls will be up for the next 15 days, so be sure to vote soon, and spread the word!

Thank you so much for all your support, we couldn't have done it without you!

Done.

Rather easier than the 'Adventure' category.. choosing between Amnesia and Minecraft is just cruel!

Eh, Minecraft (brilliant as it is) needs neither exposure nor financial help, Amnesia could do with a bit of both.

Minecraft is going to win it for sure, but I'm hoping to get AI War in 2nd, or at least the top 5.

Yeah. I saw Minecraft and Dwarf Fortress in there. Both good games, neither need the publicity.

With respect, though, guys, surely the final award should go to the best game, regardless of who needs the publicity or indeed the money?   I accept that that might well favour the games that don't, such as Minecraft,  as obviously far more people are playing and probably voting for them, but it does seem wrong to penalize them for being deservedly popular.

I think the important thing is getting the Arcen games in the final list, which will bring them to the attention of many who didn't know about them before, so 'job done' by the folks here, I think.  There are several excellent indie games not in there that I think certainly should be, but such is always the case.

To be honest, I'd be hard pressed to determine what the "best" game was. My vote will consequently go to those candidates for "best game" which to my thinking need the award more. Minecraft is deservedly popular, sure, but many other indie games just as good or better are far less popular, so I'd rather see those win.

Minecraft I'm kinda meh on, but I honestly did have a hard time deciding between Dwarf Fortress and AI War. Though I chose AI War in the end.

well, minecraft is indeed a lot more exploratory than any of the others, however its also trivially easy to live a peaceful life once you understand game mechanics well enough (light/creep spawn/etc) even on normal difficulty..

DF feels a lot more alive compared to minecraft, with all the ambushes etc.. but ai war does indeed need the publicity slightly more. DF spreads through word of mouth fairly well on its own

I hate to admit this but i voted for both AI: war's and Dwarf Fortress I love both these games and they are great. But to be honest I like DF better perhaps because i really can get into that game and enjoy everything it has, plus i love how in DF each game has a very unique and interesting story to tell more so then AI war in that regards. But sadly i also think DF is in the wrong category and really should be in Realistic sim even though it is far from realistic it more of a simulation then a strategy game.

I do think AI: War has a damn good chance of winning though or at least be in the top 3 of it's category.

Alive? It simulates an entire freaking planet down to the grass and animals. You can't get more alive than that :)
