made the same mistake recently... putting homeworld on alert for wayyy to long on dif 7/7, causing them to pile up massive amounts of ships. started a new game and I'm doing way better now. Took 5 planets and already found the first homeworld.... avoiding that and it's core planets for now :D

I am starting to think we pretty much all learned .. the hard way .. that it isnt very clever to put a core/home planet on alert (for very long) if you do not intend to assault it.  ::)
