Well, my list is still far from finished (especially considering the ship's mechanisms), but it's going well, I think. Considering the overall positive feedback, I ask it now: are we ready to change make the front page change?

If yes, I'll do a few things:
* Fold the ship's mechanisms: instead of a list of sublists, I'll create placeholder pages with the barebones content and have a nice list of links on the front page.
* Remove the tags: I'll keep the [TODO], [REVAMP] and [WIP] flags only on my personal page, where I'll keep a more detailed list of what needs to be done.
* Integrate the old front page in the bottom: as I said, the pages about design philosophy and grand strategy will be linked at the bottom of the new front page; I'll remove the old technical pages that have been replaced with more up-to-date data and put warnings on strategies that are less accurate in the current state of the game.
* Of course, I'll continue to update, revamp and add content. The wiki revamp is far from finished. I just think that proposal is both in a not-so-bad shape and well received.

Have I the approval from Arcen, or do you prefer more refinement before the big switch?

I've always enjoyed editing wikis. I went ahead and made a page dedicated to the Spirecraft, based on the similar Golem and Starships wiki page.

* Spirecraft

Do note I only added in the actual Spirecraft ships you can make from asteroids, and the Imperial Spirecraft ships from the campaign (since info on them is difficult to find on the wiki). I've ignored the bonus spire ships, thinking they would better fit in the Bonus Ships category.

I'd at least mention and crossreference them, though. Nice page so far!

Woah, thanks!

So, with the page "Spirecrafts" being the list of ships built from asteroids and from the Fallen Spire campaign, the page named "Spirecraft_"  will be dedicated to the Minor Faction (having list of asteroids, explanation of the mining mechanism, etc). Okay. I'll do it soon.

So both the Spirecraft_ (Minor Faction) and the Fallen Spire (Minor Faction) will link to that same Spirecrafts page? Hm. Maybe I'll rather split the Spirecrafts in two, the first part will be in Spirecraft_ (alongside with the asteroids and mining mechanisms) and the second part will be somewhere

I have to admit, I never considered Fallen Spire's ships as "spirecrafts" and reserved that term for the asteroids ships, in my head.

Eh, I really don't know. I'm very sleepy and can't think strait. I'll come back tomorrow and deal with that.

Spirecraft should refer only to the special units built from Asteroids.
The units from the Fallen Spire campaign (Spire Frigate, Destroyer, etc) are the Spire Capital Ships.
The rest are just Spire Starships and Spire fleetships.

Unfortunately, this needs to be clear in the Wiki - there are game options that use those terms with those meanings specifically.  For example, the Spirecraft Minor Faction, or the Spire Hammer AI Type.

I don't see a problem with that, especially if you keep updating it, and everyone else likes how it is more than the current main page.

I was unsure if you wanted to split the Imperial Spirecraft into their own separate category. I simply put them both together in the intrium more so that if we do split them up its a simple copy+paste job.

I also wanted to add the Imperial Spirecraft since there very little information on the wiki about the imperial spirecraft, or its hard to get to and out of date.

Well, I'll split that, but anyway, creating the lists was a good help for me. Thank you!

Well, let's go, then!

Wohoo! Done!
The Front Page has been switched to its new form. Please proofread it, it's an important page; I did my best but I might have made mistakes. (For those interested, my user page is now my personal todo-list.)

Also, the Spirecrafts page has been moved to a minor-faction-dedicated Spirecraft_ page. The Imperial "spirecrafts" have been saved into the placeholder Fallen Spire page for future use.

Thank you all!

Created a Mercenaries page.

Mercenaries

Shame you don't really use them often in game, since they look neat.

Man! I was doing it right now! I found weird to find pictures of ships that didn't existed minutes earlier. I searched the wiki for old pages I would have missed to find the exact page I was creating!

I also just started on the Fleet Ships page. I only entered the basic four ships (scouts to frigates).

Not sure on how to split up the dozens of other bonus ships. I was thinking of dividing them by the expansion they were released in, so if someone only owns the base game they can quickly see what ships come with it.

Fleet Ships

Edit: Thematically I wonder what the lore behind mercenary ships is. Are these PMC ships or similar or what? There's no way these ships all have Human pilots (can they?).

Fleet Ships
Yeah, we should coordinate. ;)
However, I have no idea on how to sort the fleetships. My best bet would be by alphabetical order, but, meh... There is this old page that sorts them by roles and sub-roles, but I find these roles not very accurate, also they overlap in many places. By expansion, as you started to sort them, might be an idea, indeed...
I haven't started that page earlier, while it's a central one, because of that sorting problem: no clear criterion.

Edit: Thematically I wonder what the lore behind mercenary ships is. Are these PMC ships or similar or what? There's no way these ships all have Human pilots (can they?).
Yeah, fleet ships are definitely not piloted. This page was written by Chris in 2010 and clearly states that remote ship control is a thing. So Mercenary ships may be ships remotely piloted by mercenaries, or directly piloted, provided mercenaries might be dauntless enough to fight the AI themselves. No clear clue here.

EDIT
Also, I got an error trying to upload a new version of an image. I posted the report on the Website Support subforum (here).

I think the Starships page is fine simply because there are so few starships in the game in comparison to fleet ships.

With fleet ships we have to break up all the bonus ships or else it'll be a fifty page long list with no pause.

I can think of either, as I said above, breaking all the bonus ships up based on the expansion they were released in, or to break them up based on what faction they belong to. So Zenith ships would be in their category for example.

E: Also I did up the Humanity lore page.

Humanity

I kept the lore info you learn in the expansions off of this page for the moment though. Then again most of that has to do with the AI.

E2: I've done the first part of the Fleet Ships page. I've added in the bonus ships for the stock game.

Stock Fleet Ships

Really loving the work of you both! The strategy tidbit on the Merc page was especially enlightening as I've never used them before! Makes sense to use them as a metal "dump", though.

Kind of getting the itch to get back into the game now :)
