AI War Wikipedia Page
« on: January 14, 2010, 05:41:27 am »
Hi, I'm new here :). I got AI War for a couple of weeks now and I think its awesome. Haven't played as much as many of you guys here for sure, but I plan to play this for a long time.

Anyway, I created an AI War wikipedia page(since every other games got one). It's still in progress and kinda rough. Please feel free to join in and contribute what you can if you are interested.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AI_War:_Fleet_Command

Question: When was 1.0 released?(The first release)

Once this is done, hopefully I can do another page for Zenith Remnant(or do I make that just another section in this single page?)

I'm still living in the past

Quote
An expansion titled Zenith Remnant was released on 12th January 2009 that adds new factions, AI types, ships and new gameplay mechanics.

Very cool!  Thanks for putting that together.

A few notes:

- A full timeline up to 2.0 can be found here:  http://arcengames.com/aiwar_20vs10.php
- Arcen Games is considered the publisher.

All right. I'll change the publisher part tomorrow(it's late over here...time for some shut eyes) It's not a problem, just doing my part in spreading the word about this great game. This deserves a wikipedia page.

I'll see if I can add a summary timeline to the wikipedia page. Or maybe I'll just add it as an external link.

Thanks to those that contributed so far. Suggestions are welcomed too... :)

No worries, I really appreciate it!  It's in appropriate for me to directly edit it (or to ask anyone to), so I was just providing info about it that you could use if so desired.  I always figured I would really know I had "made it" when someone created a wikipedia page. ;)

I understand. Wikipedia is very picky about neutrality and such things. We'll(as in the community) handle it no problem. References to written articles would help a lot(or else it'll just look like a fanboy page :P, not that there aren't such pages on wikipedia).

Anyway goodnight.

Our "press and player reactions" page on the main sidebar of our site has a collected list of just about all of our reviews, and there is a lot of excellent second-party descriptive material about the game in them.  I'd suggest mining those as sources, they constitute the bulk of professional second-party writing about the game.  Good night!  (and for me, time to get a late lunch!)

I'd help out over there, but i'm afraid my edits would be rolled back for neutrality reasons ;) though i will go check out the page and see if i can't contribute anything!

edit: shoot i added some basic info on the Zenith Remnant but i wasn't logged in at the time. At least you guys will know it was me... :)

Avid League player and apparently back from the dead!

If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!

Oh, wait... *causation loop detonates*

Is it possible for you to put together a detailed features page at some point of both AI war and the Zenith Remnant? That way we have as many official references as possible to back up our "claims" over there.

I can see your last edit logged as RCIX. Nice work.

I think I have a problem with the cover art. The current image is uploaded on wikipedia commons and they don't allow fair use images. The current image might get deleted. My Wikipedia account was just registered a day ago so I can't upload an image directly to wikipedia. If anyone is able to upload this image directly to wikipedia, I'll be very grateful.

I found the original image here:
http://www.giantbomb.com/ai-war-fleet-command/61-28138/

Also you can use this as a reference:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Empire_Total_War_cover_art.jpg

I resized it half its size. It takes 10 days for a user account to be able to upload an image :(

I didn't know about this wiki page, but I'm going to update it with details about how "intelligent" the AI is (and specifically more about its design, since that is one of the main selling points of the game), as well as updating a lot of the outdated information on the expansions.  I'll definitely throw in there how much money you have so far donated to charity with CoN, because that is quite an accomplishment in its own right, and I think people also need to see that.

There are also probably some more "sub-categories" that need to be addressed, this game is far too complex to just have "gameplay".  I'll see what I can do.
