AI War - various versions
« on: February 03, 2014, 03:15:54 pm »
Is it possible to recreate the game as of the major expansion versions?

For instance, if I wanted to revisit AI War 2.0 (the base steam release), can I just install the base game via steam and get that version?

While I have been extremely fond of the changes over the years, the hacking changes, the resource changes and some of the repair changes make the game very different.    I'm kinda wondering how they compare, how do golems feel without exo-strikes?

Thanks

You can't get back to the older versions on Steam, no, but the older versions are around on the internet for sure.  If you google them, they'll come up on various mirrors.  You can use your license key from steam to unlock them, and you're all set then.

Golems without exostrikes sounds like the current Golems - Easy option.

AI War needs a Wayback machine, that'd be fun. :D

Maybe.  But, I recall a distinct lack of superweapons.    It's hard to say if overall it's easier or harder.  Hence the curiousity.  Testing the proposition, have I gotten better, or is the game easier?

I have a link somewhere for 3.8, the last version before the new armor/shield mechanics.  Somewhere around in there.

I've never actually downloaded/installed/played it, but back when I found the link I was a little frustrated with the game-as-it-was-at-the-time.
