Just wanted to point everyone interested toward a couple of (relatively) new AI War destinations we're trying to build up. I know several of you have voiced the want to help expand AI War's player base and reputation as one of the best pure strategy games out there, and hopefully here's an opportunity for that.
We now have an AI War subreddit:
http://www.reddit.com/r/AIwar/And a Steam group connected to said subreddit:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/redditaiwarThe Steam group is cool but isn't necessarily as meaningful as the subreddit could be, for one our games don't require you to use Valve's service to play.
AI War has been noted a few of times on the massively populated gaming subreddit usually regarding updates, expansion releases and sales. At those times a lot of questions are asked by those unfamiliar with the title, and if we're able to point them to our subreddit or have representatives actively engaging in the conversation about it we can really get people to leap past that initial hurdle and into a game.
That said, the subreddit is in no way trying to encroach on our forums and the contributions you all make. It's more an effort to give those who
only use Reddit a little more accessibility through both the developer and peer support players can find here anytime. Redditors are always welcome to come over to these forums for any questions or discussion points they may have, and vice versa.
So basically this isn't just a plea to join these groups if you're interested (not that it isn't--pleeeease) it's also a way to potentially add to the game's active community. If you have any ideas, features or other items that you think would be a nice addition to the subreddit or Steam group, post them here or over on the Arcen PR thread in Game Dev category:
http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,8346.0.htmlWe're hoping to go the subreddit route as well with A Valley Without Wind when it hits alpha and players have a more hands-on role in the game's development.
