Human Colony Rebellion-ever seen one?
« on: September 22, 2011, 12:38:43 pm »
So the title pretty much speaks for itself. I've been playing with Human Colony Rebellions on for several games now, but have yet to actually see one happen. I usually play 80 planet maps, Vanilla AI at 7.3/7.3. I've never gotten a message that says they are rebelling, and I can't remember actually finding a colony while exploring. Of course, my games usually end before the 8 hour mark. Maybe I need to get better at fighting the AI so the colonies feel comfortable rebelling?  :)

I had one appear on an 80 planet map around the 10-11 hour mark.  Very inconvenient because I was preparing to push a homeworld and it was way off in the middle of nowhere, 3 hops from the nearest friendly system.  Then a CPA triggered.  Fun times.

Yep. I rescued the colony, and even had it build a couple of their fighter bombers or whatever. Then we all died.

I had to stop mid-rescue because I didn't want the CPA to trigger while I held a remote planet 3 hops away.  So I had to wait for the CPA, then go take the planet...THEN resume clearing to the homeworld, by which time the Mark IV neighbor to the homeworld was very reinforced :( .

Hearteater, that sounds just like most of my endgames. In case you can't tell, they always end badly for me. :)
I suppose I just have to survive long enough for the colony to decide it wants to be rescued. Thanks for the replies!

Well, if it weren't for the AI Eye slowing me down, I'd have had the homeworld before all that happened.

I havn't tested this, but would parking a cloaker starship next to a rebel colony cloak it when it rebels/becomes visible?

A trick to use when the Rebel Colony rebellion is far away is to take the planet and then self-destruct your command station at the planet, this resets the 2-hour timer and you don't control the planet for the incoming waves/CPA's

I've encountered them twice, both times sending in a few transports with spire starships, some viral shredders/other ships and then putting a warp jammer command stationon the planet. I did get a CPA after getting the colony once, but it consisted of one ship, so no problem. I'm not sure what caused that.
I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.
