AI War Official 4.021 Released!
« on: October 28, 2010, 03:41:18 pm »
Original: http://arcengames.blogspot.com/2010/10/ai-war-official-4021-released.html

This release has a small number of bugfixes and tweaks that came up post-4.0, and we wanted to go ahead and get this into your hands as soon as possible just to make sure things remain clean.  Enjoy!

This is a standard update that you can download through the in-game updater itself, if you already have 4.000 or later. When you launch the game, you'll see the notice of the update having been found if you're connected to the Internet at the time.  If you don't have 4.000 or later, you can download that here.

FYI your link in the Buy/Get Demo on the website for the base game to GamersGate has 404'd. (http://www.arcengames.com/aiwar_buy.php).

http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-AIWAR/ai-war-fleet-command-pc

It's now:  http://www.gamersgate.com/DDB-AIWARFC/ai-war-fleet-command-40-bundle

Also, you might want to add in those store imagelinks to the CoN page.

I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

I'd assumed it was intentional you had to manually order Hybrid Facilities to be destroyed. I'd rather my ships shot them automatically so I'm happy about this, if I read it right.

It was unclear to me from reading the changelog so I'll ask here: is this version supposed to fix the lack of AI aggression? I wasn't sure if the release notes were saying that this version resolved the problem, or if we ought to send in FailedAssertions.txt files so the problem can be fixed.

I played for a half-hour or so today with version 4.020 under OSX and noticed no waves during that time. I do have a FailedAssertions.txt file that I can post if it would be of help.

I'm sure Chris or Keith will be along shortly, but my understanding was that they hoped they might have solved that issue, but included the FailedAssertions apparatus to catch the issue if they hadn't. That is to say, if you've got a FailedAssertions file, it's probably helpful to post it.

Can patches still be installed without an internet connection?

I'm curious about this also.

I seem to be experiencing the "AI passivity" bug as well, 45 minutes in and no waves. One of the AI's appears to be a turtle, but not the other, so this strikes me as odd. I'm not finding the "Failed Assertions" log being discussed here, though, where would that file be generated?

Edit: Or maybe we just had a fluke AI draw. I just checked the high score table (by which one can learn what AI types one is facing), it turns out we've got a turtle and a support corps. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if there are no waves to support the support corps would be passive, yes?

Yes, please, by all means post the file, that's why it's there :)

So I'm not the only one? I played for 4 hours last night (Difficulty 7, Random Moderate/Easier AI) and had about that many waves, one of which consisted of one (1) Leech Starship. So it was really only like 3 waves.

So abandoning the 2 easier turtles we start a new game... and end up with two starship commanders. I can confirm that waves are working just fine for me now...  :-\

Edit: Actually, that's a bug. We set things up with one "random non-technologist" and one "random moderate," so how could we have drawn two starship commanders? I'll try and report it in mantis in a bit.
