Updater update that broke da game?

Screen cap of what the updater is showing me.  Game version is at .048 right now.  ???

Edit: Did a little digging and the updates shown were downloaded,  just not applied.

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

Sorry double posting because well... something different?

I was rummaging through the AIW files and looked into the updaters section and found these logs (Yea LOGS!).

Oooookay... the problem here is cloudflare, it turns out.  It's caching the updates stuff really inappropriately, and is really getting in the way.  In the next update I am going to transition AI War to amazon s3 like all our other games are on.  In the meantime, I have put in a workaround that should fix this for you.

Oh yes, the updater is super fast. :)

Really the updater has been working perfectly fine this entire time, but the caching on our website has been borking it royally.  So just moving it to Amazon next time will make all well with it. :)

Just glad to be able to help.  Oh, that updater I was talking about was you  ;).  In typical fashion as well.

The only thing I don't like about the game updater is that it deletes the updates.  Now I can't take them from one box and update my other if I needed to.  Minor annoyance but I'll survive  :'(

Oh, haha -- didn't realize you meant me.  The deletion of the updates is mainly it trying to be cleanly.  You can bring the entire game to the other box and have that update it, though obviously that's more of a pain.  You can also download the updates manually from the locations pointed to in the updates urls:

Wouldn't those change once you move it to amazon though?

Just FYI, I was reproducing the chat text box bug even without the scroll bar showing on the recent messages display. This was on 64-bit Linux (Ubuntu 12.04). EDIT: On AI War version 7.053

I understand why you would want to delete them.  It's just if you have ever been without internet at home and you can get your laptop to a free hotspot :D

Before I could just DL the updates and choose to not install them right away.  Either way, as long as there is at least one easy workaround :D

Actually, the updater thing wasn't even what I was going to look at.  I wanted to poke at the text box focus thing.
And right now, I can't say that I see anything, but I've only just begun.  One thing that is starting to annoy me a bit though is that every time I push enter, I get a chat box.  Go to scrap a bunch of obsolete Engi Is?  [Double Click] [Del] [Enter] ----> {Chat box}     ???      When did that start happening? ???  [Cancel]

Nope, there will just a third one.  I can't ever change old ones or else old copies of the game stop working.

Okay, thanks, I'll try that some more on my linux box.  Sigh, good to know.  It only happens when the recent messages display is actually up, though, right?

Ohh, I had not even thought of the ability to do that.  It deleted it before, too, but it required a confirmation before installing, so that was what made it do it.  Technically you can still do that if you just deny it UAC access.  It wants write access and you just say no, and then you can install it later. :)

Hmm, not sure, that's interesting.  I'll check that out.

Sounds like work to me  ???  As long as updates can be dl separately then I don't think I'd have any problems in the future.

Sometimes that chat box pops up and disappears in short order.

Oh, I forgot to mention, somehow, that the new version is out with the latest batch of textbox fixes, etc: http://arcengames.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=AI_War_-_Current_Post-7.000_Beta#Prerelease_7.055

If those affected could comment on how this affected your issue, if at all, I'd appreciate it. :)

Thanks!
Chris
