Would it be a much of a hassle to add auto-upgrade or manual upgrade to turrets since higher marks are now straightforwards upgrades?

Except for energy concerns (1200 * mk!).  And the fact that you can have both on the same planet.

I don't know that they'll always remain so (making the energy cost not completely flat, to give a reason to use lower mark ones, etc), and in any event since the caps are not mutually exclusive (like harvesters) I don't think it's really a fit.




FYI, 7.042 will probably get out noonish tomorrow (Wednesday); I made progress towards it this morning but I won't be done with it today.

If you're trying to really defend a world, that you can have more turrets is a reason to use the lower mark ones. If you're trying to save on power, not so much of course.

Ok I might have missed something... but where did my nomad beacon go when I captured it's planed...
It was there waiting nicely and the it kinda disappeared when I captured the planet I think. And I noticed it to late to go back to autosave :|

It was there waiting nicely and the it kinda disappeared when I captured the planet I think. And I noticed it to late to go back to autosave :|
If you don't hack the beacon beforehand the AI failsafes will destroy the beacon. From your message I think that you forgot to use a hacker to disable the failsafes before capturing the planet.

I went to AI planet and built Exile Survey Hacker.  And exactly nothing happens - does it need supply or something like that?

Check your map: Exile filter. Should show one spot and the ones you've hacked.

I am now with 7.041 getting the harvester reset message when a Wave has hit a planet and the last AI ship on the planet leaves / is destroyed.
It is not always reproducible, the attached savegame is where it happened but I couldn`t reproduce it with this or the following wave :/
It's possible that the planet needs its harvesters reset from the shift to 7.041 and wasn't realizing it until it tried to (re-)build a harvester.  Does it keep happening repeatedly on the same planet?
As it seems the positions are wrongly generated even at the start of the game currently, this may have been what cause this

I tried it and nothing happens when I survey hack. Tried two planets.

It has worked in a game I have going, so I'm not sure what is going on there.

Yes, the first planet shows 5 hops. The two I tried were 2 and 3 hops from that.
