Hrm, is there any chance the different kinds of beam weapons could get their own ammo type names?

Right now there's at least Heavy Beams, Zenith Beams, and Spire Beams, and they're all totally different mechanics.
Beams aren't the only type of weapons like this (energy bombs, lasers, and rail canons).  I've never really noticed the same ammo type for those 3.  They have always been beams, Heat Beam, and Photon Lances to me.

Update: 7.041 is out with yet another batch of changes for the new expansion stuff, buut also some fixes/balances fixes for the base game (including matter converters not consuming any metal for the past few patches, heh, whoops).

Btw, if anyone has PM'd me about getting access to the beta and has NOT received a reply from me on that subject, please PM me again :)  I've tried to reply to everyone but I've noticed that sometimes I don't get notified of every PM.

Yea, when I fixed the other one I forgot the beacon had similar logic.

When I start a new 4 player game with the latest patch 7.041,  All player homeworlds get 2-3 times the normal amount of metal deposits. Loading an old save makes all the planets have huge amounts of deposits (300 - 400).

So I guess too many nails was used this time.

Can you give me the old save (saved before 7.041) where loading that makes this happen?  It didn't happen in my tests so I'd be fixing in the dark, so to speak.

Edit: ok, fixed the one about loading an MP game saved in 7.041 duplicating deposits, but still no clue about loading older saves making it go nuts.

Here is the save that is causing around 300 deposits per planet. tikka.no-ip.org/kuraa/bti.sav

What about the problem when starting a new game with 4 players ? 
Every time we started a new game with more players than two, we saw that too many deposits were seeded on our homeworlds. We saw around 30 deposits on each players homeplanet.

Update: 7.042 is out just to hotfix an issue in the last release where loading an MP game could do... "strange" things with the number of metal deposits.  Bear in mind that if you have a save from 7.041 with 300 metal deposits on a planet, it will still have that, but a save from earlier will have the right amount.


On the starting-a-new-game-with-4-players one that's the one I found and fixed right after my post just before this.  And when I loaded the save you just linked the metal amounts looked right (highest planet had 14 spots, most significantly lower than that) so I guess it was somehow related to the same bug.

MkIVs already had half-caps.  MkVs did not, but do now.

I am now with 7.041 getting the harvester reset message when a Wave has hit a planet and the last AI ship on the planet leaves / is destroyed.
It is not always reproducible, the attached savegame is where it happened but I couldn`t reproduce it with this or the following wave :/

It's possible that the planet needs its harvesters reset from the shift to 7.041 and wasn't realizing it until it tried to (re-)build a harvester.  Does it keep happening repeatedly on the same planet?

Would it be a much of a hassle to add auto-upgrade or manual upgrade to turrets since higher marks are now straightforwards upgrades?
