Yea, that particular subcommander only knows one note, but it plays it with enthusiasm!  Originally I was going to name it "DoYaFeelLuckyPunk" but the new name seemed more to the point.

Incidentally, a planet with that subcommander probably doesn't do much to impede your moving through it, once you clean out the wormhole guardpost guards.

Oh is *that* why I have a planet in this new game with four Counterattack IV's all clustered close together? Man, that's just not pleasant at all.

Steam overlay is working fine for me right now, just tried it. It may not be working 100% of the time, I'll keep checking.

You may find it less unpleasant than some of the other subcommanders ;)

Yeah, please do give the combat carrier its regen chamber function. That was sort of the point of the ship. And make it a bit less squishy.

I think I know why steam overlay is sometime working then sometime not working.

When I use the auto-patch launcher and say to start AI war up once patch is complete. It will launch without steam overlay/steam stuff and looks like steam overlay is broke but when in reality it just launched without it.

A good work around would be to check if steam is running on the PC then launch using the steam app url otherwise use the default non-steam exe. For reference it is "steam://rungameid/40400" for me anyway.

I can do it by navigate to steamapps > common > AI war folder and click on "AIWarAutoUpater-windows.exe" and check box to launch AI war despite the fact that Steam isn't running.

Well I just found something rather nice.

With the new protector star ship loaded with Anti-energy modules, Cookie Monster can't eat the fleet near them. I don't know if that is intended or not, but it is very nice. Make a good way to escort it though my space without losing any ships and let it go when it heads off to the AI worlds.

Somehow I get the feeling that the AI can do the same, and I just have not noticed it yet.

Oh yea, it's ridiculously OP, doing stuff like shutting down H/Ks (I believe), etc.  When I get a chance it will stop doing that.  The cookie monster part I'm not sure about.

The AI cannot get Protector Starships anymore, because the snowball effect of having, say, 50 of them gets a bit much.

Okay... Steam overlay is not working this morning. It does seem to be related to the patcher, since I patched this morning and Steam doesn't think I'm playing the game right now. If I exit and launch through Steam instead, it works normally.

On a related note - the Trillian chat overlay also doesn't work when launching through the patcher, but does work when launching through Steam. (That one is CTRL+T.) I'm not sure if that's a coincidence or not.
