There seems to be a problem with map generation always giving the AI the same ships. I have recently been playing a bunch of level 9-10 games with some gimmicks to make it fun and the AI always has some combination of gravity drains, blade spawners, tackle drone launchers and bombards. I figured it was just random loopiness so I went ahead and made 20 games this morning to test this out. Settings were Maze A, 40 planets, level 10, hybrids, easy golems and spirecraft, 2 homeworlds with one being corvettes. Results are number of games out of 20 the AI had those ships:
Gravity drains: 15
Tackle drone launchers: 10
Blade spawners: 8
Bombards: 7
Shield bearers: 4
Munition boosters: 3
Others: none more than twice
