Actually I did like 10x the normal amount of testing on 6.007 so I could follow the enclave logic in a bunch of different cases to make sure it didn't crash or do anything terribly stupid, but there was one case that slipped through the cracks and had that null exception. The second hotfix was for something way older and normally I don't hotfix stuff that wasn't introduced in that release, but that bug was stopping progress on an active game, so may as well get the fix out.
But yea, the community-based QA is part of how we get stuff out so quickly. Interestingly we still tend to have more stable beta releases than many games' first official releases, but that may not be saying very much our side of that comparison.
