Can the spacegoat be a legit ship in an april fools update too like the pancake golem?
Please, Keith, please.

Didn't you see the topic where there was a mantis'd idea for a pancake golem after a discussion of breakfast food-based AI War combat? Yeah, I think half of that thread wasn't at all related to the update.
...or was it?
That was at the end of the thread, though. This jumped the tackle launcher of ontopicness and started at the beginning of the thread.

I just attributed that to the initial excitement over Ancient Shadows' new mechanics. Now that we know and are getting more of things to flesh out the mechanics more and more, we're more prone to offtopicness.

I think its time to just rename Shattered Haven to Pancake Haven, make the protagonist a professional breakfast chef, have him fight of legions of zombie breakfast pastries and other dough-based breakfast items, in his quest to hunt down and conquer the Pancake Golem!

At this (vague) rate of silly ships we might end up with an extra expansion. ;)

Update: 5.069 hotfix is out to fix a bug where only the most-recently-added scenario was being seeded in nebulae.  What do you mean, "did you leave testing code in, Keith?"  Have I ever done such a thing?  ... um, yea.  Anyway, a few other important fixes in there (like preventing minor-faction ships with plasma-siege shots from "helpfully" killing forcefield-protected AI command stations for you) and a long-needed buff to CPAs on higher difficulties, though we probably aren't done on that front.

Not that anyone in this thread would have noticed these bugs, having much better-aligned (i.e. pancake-aligned) priorities ;)

I wonder if Keith actually looked at the save I submitted  ;D

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

On the only-one-scenario-type-seeding thing?  No, I already knew what was happening when I saw the bug description so I didn't need to look :)

In retrospect, I expect it was a massive trolling of the AI.

It was a sandbox version of the 10/10 I was playing when I found it. Nothing actually going on in the sandbox game... all the goodies are in the 10/10

That reminds me: that new mission? Way too hard for me. Hello, face tons of Dyson Gatlings which can chew through your starship in record time and the forces you're defending are severely outmatched. Bonus points for them being replaced as fast as you kill them. Poor shadow shield projector, went through my charges like candy >.> Doesn't help they have the hull type of one of the shortest range modules. Or a really short one anyway, not enough room to properly engage for the damage they do.

It's definitely a tough one. Especially when you don't have a larger hull to go with. 1-2 for me in early attempts.

Interesting, because on my test run with the current balance numbers I took a game-just-created H-S-FF in there and won without losing either base, and didn't even spend the unlock points I gained during it until after the scenario.

One thing was to get to the front and save as many of the allied ships as I could with projected shadow shields and stay out there mitigating damage and putting a dent in the dysons where I could (did an all-laser loadout since dysons are Heavy).  The allies reached a critical mass of ships that would just plow through the dysons.  Later on the number of simultaneous dysons increased to the point that my allies' line broke and we fell back on the first starbase, but at that point we were able to hold out long enough.

I figured that if I could do it (I'm not actually that great at these things) with a brand new champion without even falling back on the larger starbase, y'all could at least win, particualrly with upgrades ;)
