Speaking of sandbox AIs, I'm wondering if it would be fun to do a AAR with a game against 1/1 AIs, but with something like 100AIP/10 min or something.

I'm sure even 1/1 can be scary when at several thousand AIP. ;)

I thought of doing 1/1 with all minor factions at 10/10, aka "Everything But the AI War", but since a lot of the stuff scales with difficulty anyway, that would probably not be very interesting  :)

Of course, now someone will reclaim everything times 7 ;)

Reclaim? No have to pay energy? Me WANT! WANT FREE UNITS!  :)

It would probably take several thousand AIP and even then I don't know about it. I think I play with the most modifier for waves with 16 HW, 8 champs and only one entry to my HWs. I think at 700 AIP the combined wave sizes were ~160 ships. After that point the game ended horribly for the AI (Fallen Spire finish).

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

It laughs at nukes, you have to get the super-hybrid to feed it wafer-thin mints.

If I can eat thin minds does that mean I am the toughest of all?

That new AI type coming up seems cool enough to wait for, so I'm going to postpone my game restart (not only for the AI, but also for the nebula mission select changes, and I realized I accidentally set my bonus ship selection filter to simple in my current game) one more version.

Just curious. The suggestion that resulted in the Neinzul Scapegoat seemed to have a lot of votes down in the bug tracker. Any reason you still went with it? Personally, I think they are intruiging, if for no other reason than their unit management challenge they would propose (will the ships regenerated by them retain their previous control group assignments?), and for how fun they will be when mixed with Neinzul enclaves. ;) Also, how annoying they will be when mixed into AI waves.  :o

I will probably choose that new Spire multi-beam thing though. Finally, a Spire fleet ship that doesn't seem to revolve around some gimmick, but is pretty much just "shoot stuff".

Heh, what about the Stealth Battleship. Yeah, it has cloaks and Radar jamming, but its real use is as a death machine. Or does that fall under the 'should be a starship' gimmick.

Not unless you are immune to nukes as well.

Fun exercise: win with an effective military ship cap of 1 merc bomber, and warheads. That game (1/1) was hilarious.

If warheads can't solve it, use more warheads.

But dude, I eat MINDs.
Minds make me immune to nukes by recharging my force field though, so I guess that's all there is to it.

For even more fun, leave the AI type on random.

Draw Scorched Earth, on 10/10.

Ow.

Still going to try this.....

That sounds simultaneously fun and painful. Diff 10, in other words. I have never played against Scorched Earth, interested to hear how that one goes.

But you can only eat thin minds. And there aren't that many minds left after the first AI war.
