Every MMO I've ever played, I've been called Hy.

Over in league/dota, nobody actually reads your playername. You are called the name of your hero/champion.. If youre lucky. In dota2,(and apparently HoN) you are often called your color..

Sometimes, theyll also bust out century old nicknames for heros too. For instance, Leoric is obviously Skeleton King, in warcraft lore. But in dota2, because IP issues, hes actually called Ostarion... But that hasnt stopped people from calling Skeleton Kings Leoric. I also had to google who the hug Naix was in the middle of a match, because my teammates kept saying it. Similarly, Furion, Magina, Traxxex...

Other than that, I've pretty much been called Lance my entire career

In my case, there is me, and then there's my oddly colored twin, Draco Cretel.

Playing things like TF2 people will say "Draco, [blah blah blah]" and we'll be like "which one?"

For a while I changed my steam handle to "Silver Draco18s"

I always get called Cooper in multiplayer games, and by some friends. I have no idea why, but it happens.

To keep on-topic on the off-topic area that has sprung up here, I've been called alternately Tyber and Zann online by various people, depending on how lazy they are. The one extra character makes a difference!

Having 6 or more wormholes connecting to your homeworld does make defense harder but opens up so many options for moving out into the galaxy.

I came up with my nick by typing random letters when I needed a unique new nick for Eve Online. It's stuck with me ever since (as it really is completely unique), and usually is shortened to Vol, which rolls off the tongue easily.
