This one is the first substantial content addition since the initial beta release of our new AI War expansion pack, Ancient Shadows.

This update adds a second scenario that can be seeded in a nebula, beginning the move towards much-needed variety for the champions' "offroad" exploits.  This scenario introduces three new splinter factions (one zenith, one neinzul, one spire) with 16 units between them.  A couple new champion hull types are possible as rewards (no, not larger than the ones previously available, but we're getting to that), and 5 new scenario-unlocked module lines for champions are available.  Not all champions can use all modules, but it won't give you a module line you can't use at all.

Many long-time members of the Arcen community will appreciate one particular fix: the bug that caused a "ghost" of a unit's build queue to sometimes draw just a little below it is now gone.  Finding the greater-than sign that needed to be greater-than-or-equal-to took 3 hours, so be happy! ;)

There's also a variety of other bugfixes and some balance changes (notably to part of the AI's reinforcements logic, since reinforcements have been so low lately).

Update: 5.059 hotfix is out to fix a bug in the 5.058 reinforcements changes that caused AI reinforcements to go Stark! Raving! Mad! Thanks for letting us know about that one, though the AI looks sad now.

Update: 5.060 hotfix is out to fix a variety of bugs (some recent, some longstanding. Nothing critical, but some moderately severe (for Fallen Spire particularly) wanted to get these out before starting on any bigger chunks.

This is a standard update that you can download through the  in-game updater itself, if you already have 4.000 or later. When you launch the game, you'll see the notice of the update having been found  if you're connected to the Internet at the time.  If you don't have 4.000 or later, you can download that here.

ARGH. I can't finish a game before you come out with more awesome stuff.
If warheads can't solve it, use more warheads.

HA! I just update in the middle of my campaign. Let's just say.. I'm trolling the AI.

Quick question. When new "mission types" for the nebulas come out, do you have to seed a new game to get them, or will as of yet not interacted with nebulas be eligible to receive them in existing games?

I am playing my current campaign with complete visibility (to relax), and all the nebulae show EER and SFR starbases.

You and your ridiculous fortress worlds...
If warheads can't solve it, use more warheads.

Right now all scenario types are picked during mapgen, but I'm probably going to change that for a variety of reasons, this being one of them.

It's not like I'm playing 10/10 Assassin/Bully or anything  ;)

It would add the UI fixes and the reinforcement tweaks. Fortress Baron has nothing on me!

Edit: And once again... That planet is AI controlled. It's a fortress beach-head  8)

Whoa, currently playing a nice simple 9/9 Turtle/teleporting turtle to test out my champion when the AI decides that it enjoys this new update of Keiths. ALL bordering planets just bumped up their reinforcements by about 1000 and now are happily adding carriers and barracks to their planets, i will admit i have got about 300AIP.

What did we do to deserve this!!

Clicking "Start Game" :)

It's quite possible I went overboard,  but the guard post reinforcements staying constant until AIP 271 wasn't really working out in the current model.  Now the guard post reinforcements are based off AIP/40 instead of AIP/270 ;)  But before the guard post reinforcements were really really small compared to the command station reinforcements, so I didn't think it would make that all that huge of a difference.

9/9 with 300 AIP, however... well, it should be trying to kill you now :)  Perhaps overboard.

I'm interested to know (with reinforcements logs if possible) what it's like on more sane AIP/Diff combinations.

You're making an argument for making the Beachhead AI plot non-optional.
