Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

Game crashed for me and all of my friends something like 5 times in a period of 30 minutes of playing since the last patch.  Haven't tried since "5.048", did it fix it?

5.048 is much more stable.  I wasn't able to reproduce crashes like I was with 5.047 so I would say the latest beta is all good.

Night and day difference here. SS of the same info as the last. Used the started from the same save I posted above.

:)
That's one of those chokepoint setups that just depresses the AI ;)  Glad to hear it's apparently stable now, thanks for the testing :)

;D 10/10 doesn't get depressed... it just throws thousands of ship at it until a Raid SS slips through unnoticed...

I've been tooling around with the sprite pool slider. Observations so far are good. I run smooth as glass with a 33ms performance profile @ 1000 pool. Memory has been fairly stable (although the time played is pretty low).

@ no pool and 500 pool; I notice slight hitching especially at the start of combats. Memory was staying low but the hitching made me bump it up.
@5000 pool, the game really acts as it normally has.

I tried switching from 5000 pool to 1000 pool and there wasn't a decrease in memory size.
Save and restart game with it set @ 1000. I was hovering at ~ 950  mem just keeping focused on one planet. Switching planets (main production planet) to start up SS production bumped mem up to ~1040 and it has been holding fairly steady since. I have noticed that the game sometimes drops some used mem, but it isn't frequent at all.

Too easy to pop out of that chokepoint and doesn't protect your turrets for squat.  It IS, however, damned fun for ringing around an entry WH to 'jam' the ships together into a nice tight bunch and then send a Lightning Warhead into when your fleet's on the other side of the galaxy...  Usually only do that for Exo waves though and I haven't mucked with those in a while.
... and then we'll have cake.

BTW... It's a beach head... All that mess is on an AI controlled planet. And it still isn't finished.  :D

Update: 5.049 fixes a problem with the new Spire Archive seeding logic where it was trying to put them on invalid planets (rather, planets that would be valid later but weren't at that point in the process).  This would cause starting a game to fail when it happened, so wanted to get the fix out now.

Quick check here, anyone else seeing this:

Hovering over a unit brings its popup on top of any controls shown in the lower left of the screen, obscuring those controls. Expected behavior is for that popup to locate itself to the 'north' of said controls, not layered on top of them.

Example uploaded: my OCS's controls obscured.

Or maybe I'm nuts and just never noticed this.

Also when I select a Zenith Trader on a planet I don't have control over it looks like I can build stuff there. Probably shouldn't be able to do that.

If it is a planet in supply, then yes, you are allowed to build stuff with the trader.
You aren't supposed to be able to be able to build stuff with the trader on planets not in supply, but there is an old bug where you can build with trader on planets without supply, and I'm not sure if it has been fixed or not.

Ok, thanks, though that makes sense, I don't see how that's useful.

What about my earlier complaint, am I nuts or should I file a Mantis?
