Hybrids/Advanced Hybrids
« on: July 08, 2012, 10:06:34 am »
So can someone, in short, describe what the difference between these are these days? They used to be limited in "level of awesomeness", but with the addition of the subplots and iterations over the latest 5.x betas, they've gotten quite a few changes. What can I expect?

Normal hybrids 1-out-of-10 through normal hybrids 10-out-of-10 is just the hybrids scaling up in magnitude (basically, how many you will see in the game).

Advanced hybrids 1-out-of-10 adds some higher level maturity and modules they can get to.
Iirc, advanced hybrids 2-out-of-10 adds the first level of "the dyson plot",
Iirc, advanced hybrids 4-out-of-10 adds the second level of "the dyson plot",
Iirc, advanced hybrids 7-out-of-10 adds the final level of "the dyson plot" (the one that is basically game-over if you don't stop it before it happns)
and each level of advanced hybrids give them a bonus on their "central bank of pain" point accumulation, which currently goes only towards spawning the super-hybrid that can do the dyson plot (the super-hybrid can still spawn with advanced hybrids at 0/10 if normal hybrids is > 0, but it's just a particularly buff hybrid there).

So if I'm reading this right:

Hybrids spawns both Hybrids and occasionally they "level-up" into Advanced Hybrids that are just tougher Hybrids.  The higher the setting on Hybrids, the more of them they are, and as a consequence, the more likely an Advanced Hybrid is to develop because you just don't have time to kill all the regular Hybrids.

Advanced Hybrids adds additional modules all? Hybrids can use.  In addition, a higher setting adds additional stages to the deadly "plots" that only Advanced Hyrbids will attempt to execute on the player.  At present there is only one deadly plot, the Dyson Sphere one, so if Dyson Sphere is turned off, enabling Advanced Hybrids does not cause any deadly plots to occur.
