With bombards it's also fact that while players are quite limited on number of these AI can still have a bit more - and on ultra lows it's a visible diff since 1 bombard is quite powerful (fact that buggers run away from you doesn't help but riots stop them nicely - attrition is a problem tho due to their long range).

Although the AI does have to "scale down" low ship cap ships, that isn't a lot of comfort when the AI chooses almost nothing but a low ship cap ship to reinforce with for several reinforcement cycles. (More likely than you think)

(Don't forget maws on ultra-low, too.)
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

Good point. Eaters that don't scale with ship cap should also have their "transport" capacity scale. (Unless they can only eat stuff that does not scale)

Just out of curiosity. Are we waiting for the current "worst ship" poll to complete and the resulting balance changes from it before 5.027 gets released?

No, it's just a matter of Chris getting a chance to push the prerelease.

With regard to the new energy reactor sliders:

Is there some new calculus in place that would advantage having more than one of each on each planet? Is this for people who like to micromanage their energy to get an extra 100 bolts or so by flipping switches on and off? Or is it best for 99% of us to just leave this at 1 each per planet?

On the face of it, it would seem that the metal and crystal drain would negate the benefit of extra energy, unless you really needed it.

Single Player, multi-homeworld.  In that scenario reactor use is allowed to go over one (one per homeworld) without energy loss.  It was a particularly trying event which Keith helped to fix.
... and then we'll have cake.

Ah, ok. That's really not clear to a relative noob like myself.

No worries.  It's not really something they'd expect most newbs to do. :)  It's a really wild game if you play it like that, but it's hard too.  The incredibly energy restrictions you run into due to caps on 8*HW was just overly painful.  Now, most people don't PLAY that way so it probably didn't come up very much until I pestered Keith about it a few times.  ;D

Oh, we've been pestered about it before, many times :)  I just finally realized that it would make for more entertaining AARs ;)

quite off topic, but it always makes me laugh when someone says AARs. The word aars means "butt" in my language lol. Got me confused when I first entered this forum :D

Side note: Apparently this happened in 5.025 but did immunities get changed for starships?

In particular, be aware.  Spire starship (Fleet Booster starship line) is gravity immune.  If it did it before I never noticed.

It had that flag before the rebalancing, I just kept it.  But I did notice it.  Nasty little flag, that one.
