Is it... chocolate cake that comprises this golem?

but you can't keep crying over every mistake,
you just keep on trying till you run out of cake....

I'd support the idea of a cake golem lol

Yeha but I am just trying to help. Not complain. I mean I am fine without the description.

Someone doesn't understand the reference.
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

Go play Portal! Like, right now!

I could show you where it came from, but it's so much better to experience it first hand. :)

The Cake is a like.

All the reference you need, and I'd highly recommend that you give the orange box a try at some point, as that contains portal.

...after picking up multiple copies of AI war and it's expansions for your friends/family/neighbour/dog etcetera of course :P

Anyway, back to topic. TL;DR the cursed golem's description doesn't give any reason to take it, but the stats do. Except you can't see the stats of a broken golem until it's repaired.

*Lightbulb flickers on*

Why not have broken golems set up the same way as spire mining enclosures, where you can see the structure's stats AND the ship(s) it produces? I'd support that!

Everyone's been skirting around it, but no one's posted the link to the actual song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6ljFaKRTrI

It's Portal's closing credits song "Still Alive".  The crying/cake lines are about 40 seconds in.  It's absolutely brilliant in how it manages to capture the passive-aggressive personality of GLaDOS, reveal the ending twist, and be funny and relevant to the context of the game, while also being a catchy tune.

...it's the reward for completing the game, and hearing it before completing the game made it less amusing and unexpected for me.

Spoiler: Even though you broke my heart / And killed me / And tore me to pieces / And threw every piece into a fire. <- Hints at the ending somewhat :P

On a completely different note, does anyone know the Hexcode for the background of the forum? The closest I can come to is E8E8E8 and even then I suspect it might be a little on the dark side...

Which is exactly why the last thing one wants to do is hear it before completing the game.
