Anyone finding a massive reduction in the number planets with asteroids seeded? I'll make a mantis issue for it, just curious.
Since spire ships are now repairable I would imagine its to keep the numbers down as you shouldn't be losing many of them.

You're probably right, however the release said that:

Quote
When asteroids are seeded into a campaign, they are now seeded onto all non-homeworld worlds. This makes them work in a much more friendly fashion with long-running existing savegames.

Unfortunately its not working that way for either new games (mantis# 0001608) or converted games (mantis# 0001605).

 8)

*EDIT* I don't know why but my entire explanation paragraph disappered. Now i just look :smug:.

If you pick more then 8 starts, the game crashes =(

UberJumper, is there anyway you could crop your picture? It's kind of big. (ie a lot of wasted space. rotating it in paint and moving the borders up and over would do it.)

I finished my spire save :D
Congratulations!  Yea, that was quite an epic for you, in the sense that it involved roughly the same amount of pain as Ulysses experienced in the Odyssey ;)

Oh yea, it's a mad bull with a photon cannon in a china shop in the middle of an earthquake (I bet the mythbusters didn't test that).  Did you tag along with scouts so you could see what was going on?

I'll have to be sure to cover the galaxy in scouts to witness this when I beat it.

You don't have to cover everything (though there is other stuff going on).  Just tag along with the really big ship(s).

Ok so I turned moderate golems on and captured a botnet golem and fully repaired it (took forever and a lot of resources) and then got over 300k net energy (350k actually) and nothing happened.

"A new "positive AI Progress on Metamorphosis" ability has been added for golems on the Broken Golems (Moderate) minor faction only. Also on that moderate minor faction, the cost of the golems in terms of energy is 10x higher. "

Does that from the patch notes mean that a 300k energy golem now costs 3 million energy?

Also the new AI is great for attacking my planets but something is happening with CPAs. In my first CPA the AI is refusing to send his 795 CPA units one jump from my home planet that has just like 30 turrets and no mobile military. It would only send the CPA units after I went over there and attacked them first.

I wasn't following them - was kind of busy with defending rest of planets that were still mine. That nice fleet positioned itself on my HW world ok.. but I needed to defend few others once spire guys went straight for the fun.

I was only watching AIP messages as they traveled ;)

I am surveying the final piece to build the tranciver now as well. Gonna be interestign to see what happens this evning :D

And my already existing spire fleet is totally awesome. I am fairly sure it could wipe the galaxy clean if I so wanted, and my Mk II (never had enough knowledge to get MK III since I used all my 30k knowledge to unlock all the spire stuff ^^ (a first for me, I usually always get Mk III fleet ships)) is just a reserve fleet in case something does break through my super defences.

Perhaps I should get a new planet just to get enough knowledge to unlock some more scouts... :D

I did notice something odd. I attacked several AI units, and now they just linger with 0 health, but not actually going away. They just sit there :S

Yea, they're supposed to send a "small" fleet (1 BB, 2 CA, 4 DD, 8 FF) to each City Hub too.  That kind of force combined with a fully built-up city defense should be sufficient to at least hold off the enemies long enough for victory.

Yea, that's the basic idea once you build all the way up to DN.  Though it's not supposed to be a situation where you have complete impunity due to the special AI attacks still going on.  The other "alternate victory" path is basically to just keep expanding with cities (if necessary) and take care of business yourself.

But I think a lot of players will find the last-sequence alternate-victory more entertaining, at least the first time :)

If you can mantis that with a save, we'd be grateful :)

Oh, and yea, you're supposed to take more territory than usual when you have a massive fleet of capital ships to back you up ;)  Partly because the really advanced toys for said fleet cost a rather steep amount of knowledge altogether.

Even if you don't have a game-winning fleet at that point, you should be able to say "I want those 5 planets" and, within about half an hour, have those 5 planets ;)

Okay so I tried golems on easy. Apparently you must have energy before you finish repairing the golem or else you'll never get it going. So I went to an auto-save an activated a botnet golem. This thing has 10m damage x 50. Yes 10 million damage a shot with 50 shots. With a 2 second reload time. It is basically invincible. Gonna delete the golem because that is way broken atm.

It auto-damages itself from its weapons fire and requires a lot of repair.
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.
