Happy Thanksgiving all! Enjoy your rest fellas this patch looks awesome. Thanks for saving me $ on all the games I don't want to buy anymore. I feel like I'm getting a new game everyday lately! Edit; Quick question, I'm thinking of starting a new campaign with all the expansions, if I want to play the Spire campaign, do I enable Spire ships(moderate)? That would be jumping the gun, no?

I say do it ;)

I play wiht all expansions all the time, but you can adjust minor factions to taste ofc :) like I have usually turnd off zenith miners, human rebel colony, human marauder, neinzul rocketry corps and such :)

Neinzul Rocketry Corps are broken at the moment so there's no sense using them anyway!

Well read the release notes on the new choices. The Game can become a lot harder very quickly, especially if you start turning on a bunch of minor factions and plots.

I always felt the Mk III-V Ion Cannons were out of place, even when they weren't excessively expensive. I'd say, have them removed.

The title of this prerelease reminds me of a difficulty setting on Wolfenstein 3D ;)

I would rather he rebalance them than remove them. They are handy on choke worlds in combination with spider turrets to slowly kill off the enemy ships that made it out of your turret defences range so you don't have to waste time hunting them down with fleet ships.

Chris has explicitly stated in the past (which doesn't necessarily mean it will always be the case) that the design of MkIII+ ion cannons are pretty much supposed to instil the very feelings they currently are. An incredibly niche unit which players more often than not forgo but which might prove useful in very specific circumstances.

I think "Ion Piggy Bank" might be a more appropriate name for the way some players, uh, "use" them ;)

Let's just tag some AI progress on their destruction/scrapping and have it done with. 3*mark level should be enough; Ion Piggy bank with a bad penny at the bottom.

I finished my spire save :D

It was in bad condition but winnable.

And of course scores are showing nice "incomplete" but thats the usual bug.

That spire fleet quite nicely spawns everything on their wave like raid engines and counter waves ;)

As for the Ions - AIP for them is a bad idea. I guess that Mk III+ should be simply removed from trader. With that prices no-one will want to buy them anyway.

Sorry for the noobish question, but where do you enter the new commands that turn on the Golem/Spirecraft minor factions in old saves? I tried just entering then in the chat box, but that didn't work.

EDIT: Nevermind, there was an extra space at the end when I copy pasted the command. It works now.

Anyone finding a massive reduction in the number planets with asteroids seeded? I'll make a mantis issue for it, just curious.

Anyone tried 16 planet start?
It seems to start quite well but ship caps are a bit broken - but you start with 16 ship types unlocked :D

Since spire ships are now repairable I would imagine its to keep the numbers down as you shouldn't be losing many of them.
