That depends, have you made any derogatory comments regarding the computer's ancestry lately?  In earshot?

Ouch. Did someone take your wave cap off? I thought wave sizes were supposed to be capped at 2k ships - so, even if it's actually 2 waves, you shouldn't be seeing significantly more than ~4000 ships.

Also, what difficulty are you using? AI types?

Actually, most of my waves seem to be consistently at 1000 exactly + starships.

Been like that all the way from 200 AIP to 500 AIP :S

The max wave size is 2000 on normal caps, I believe, 4000 on high, and 1000 on low.  Though actually I'd think it would be 500/1000/2000, come to think of it...

ROFL! Not that I am aware of no ;)

To answer the rest of the questions:

7.3 Diff, unknown AIs, Maze C type map, all expansions, high ship caps, Shizo waves, no minor factions except traders, rebellions, Spire, Spire Civvies and resistance fighters. Uhm...that should be it? Two players.

Also, it was four waves at the same time. Two aimed at my planet (that had a gate next to it) and two to ???. All of them roughly 800-1400 ships.

(Conquest type, btw)

EDIT: It would appear not all of the announced ships actually appear. We seem to have gotten hit by roughly 2500 ships. The rest seem to have "fizzled" or something.

I play on normal caps. Some waves are less, but most are just 1000.

Yeah. Waves hit the wave cap really, really fast.  Especially with aggressive AIs. Its sorta messed up really. After an hour you know every wave is going to be capped, unless its something exotic and low-cap.

Maybe waves should have less ships and more starships?

I'm not seeing these crazy wave sizes.  :-\

I play on normal caps, and at difficulty 7 at least I usually start with waves in the 50-200 range depending on the AI type. At AIP 400 in my present game they're up to about 600-700 apiece, which seems about right to me. The only time I see larger ones is when they're full of swarmers.

You'll be pleased to know I decided not to allow it to pick an Avenger for the event attack, regardless of how high the counter gets ;D

For a while there I had nasty thoughts about avenger wave... goo that I should see one :D

I also have idea to spice up waves a bit without increasing difficulty at least on paper. I'll go to mantis with it.
