Looks like the transport kiting trick just got nerfed (defect 1227, could probably close this now).

By the way, I like the new art..The white color makes them look like "the good guys."

Have frigates been given neutron bonuses recently?

also.

Keith, there is an unfathomable amount of rage at the moment. I just got hit by virtually the same wave as when I started building *it* an hour ago. Am i to expect this like clockwork?

And to think I had just started to move forward :\ (finally got t2 lasers unlocked lol)

edit2
random thoughts i had while retrospectively looking at it.
The wave seemed to be spawned at all adjacent systems, 3 in my case. If i have more valid systems for hostile units to spawn from, will there be more smaller ships over larger ships?

It seemed the ships didn't want to go too far away from their leader. You mentioned something in irc, 'flagships' being core starships.. I noticed If i engine killed a core starship, the ENTIRE wave would just kinda sit there and do nothing after it got too far from its 'leader'

I like the white themes for the spire, sets them apart form the humans and AI, while looking classy ;)

I'm similar to superking. Bought, but wanted to wait a few more releases before starting a campaign. That resolution is getting more and more difficult to stick to.

It mentioned that some of the guardians will only show up on harder difficulties, is that 7 and up, or would I need to up the difficulty to see them all? I usually play on 7.

From the release notes:

Quote
35 new guardians have been added to LotS (5 marks each of 7 new guardian types): Carrier, EMP, Self Destruction, Special Forces Rally, Vampire, Warp Gate, and Zombie.
EMP guardians only appear on difficulty 7 and up.
Self-destruction guardians only appear on difficulty 8 and up.
Warp gate guardians only appear on difficulty 7 and up.
The rest of the guardians have a more normal difficulty spread, and thus appear at all difficulty levels.

We wanted them to kind of almost have an ambient glow to them, without them actually glowing.  Took me days to get this stuff right, but I'm pleased with the result (aside from the pink).

The general look of the spire ship isn't bad. I much prefer it to some of the new guard posts.

But I'm curious why NOT have the glow. You're throwing away a powerful element that would give these ships a truly ethereal feel. Also, I'd suggest using a more pearlescent white, instead of pure white. It looks much better and more lively against dark backgrounds, imo. A glowing ship that doesn't glow also needlessly battles against logic in this case. IMO.

Something like the attachment, perhaps. :) Just a suggestion. Excuse the half-assed tweaks, just trying to portray a general direction.

Whoops, must have missed that. Thanks. Don't think I want to make the jump to eight if I'm only missing out on one guardian.

Having built the Spire City, I seem to be constantly harassed by the AI forces, thats ok. But they are sending several golems my way, rather often and some very strong starships. Not sure how much AI level and AIP come into the picture (two AI 8's and 240 AIP (or there about)), but I seem to constantly have to retreat home to defend with the entirety of my fleet.

The AI posing a threat for the huge bonus my Spire ships gives my fleet is fair enough, but I am wondering if it might be a bit over the top currently, and I only got two choke points into my bases as well, defended by 2 Fortresses each, Beam cannons, grav turrets, full complement of MK I turrets, snipers, armor inhibitor in one and armor booster in the other (fighting a shield ninny, should be renamed to armor ninny? ;) )

I am working full time to make two Black Hole machines  and some OMDs as well to try and see if that helps me a bit, but without the bulk of my fleet I can not keep em off ;)

We wanted them to kind of almost have an ambient glow to them, without them actually glowing.  Took me days to get this stuff right, but I'm pleased with the result (aside from the pink).

I would prefer them without the actual glow. I don't like ship hulls that glow as such ;)

I can always make versions with glow available as mods if there's no interest towards such officially. ;)

The designer in me just tends to grieve every time I see easy visual opportunities neglected. That's all. Probably just me. ;) I like the general texture of the new Spire Starship, but it just feels a bit empty somehow. And somewhat grey. A sort of dead colour. Not quite so fitting for a "Light of..." expansion. (well, it's not part of the expansion per se, but anyways) Light without glow is just a blank colour.

Mind you, its not bad, I just don't like glowy stuff on space ships a such ;)

I like the glowy version better, myself.
