unfortunately, not. and I know it wasn't destroyed, because I already had a mass of ships gaurding it, and there were only a few AI ships left alive at the time.

I just took two screenshots. one shows the journal entry, the other shows the lack of a shard on the home planet. I've also attached my save.

your shard was killed by the ai, as shown on the stats.

that makes no sense. last I checked, that thing was extremely resistant, and had 20,000,000 hp. how on earth could a few fighters and frigates have done that? oh well, is there a cheat for me to get it back? if not, I'll request one.

Uh.. not really. neutron hull will die if mlrs units are nearby though. Id say around ~50 of them will melt it fairly quickly

this was early in the game. the AI didn't have any mlrs. is there a way I can do that part over?

If you don't have a save from earlier, no.  Some of these earlier stages might get re-do chances, but in general losing a critical object is the end of the quest-line.

Just FYI, it's looking like no prerelease today either, but tomorrow, possibly in the middle of the business day rather than at night.

Much goodness coming, just taking longer to bake than expected ;)

Just a quick question, is the Fighter Mk V and Cruiser Mk V supposed to be able to be captured? The other Mk V ships afaik can not, yet I now got a bunch of Mk V cruisers and fighters in my fleet ;)

According to the bug reports on Mantis, the issue you're seeing is that Core Bombers aren't reclaimable while all other Core ships are -> http://www.arcengames.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=1202

Hopefully folks don't upgrade the Mac version just yet -- it corrupts the mac version, which is what I was still testing and why I hadn't publicly posted about it yet.  ;)  Updating from Unity 3.0 to 3.1 is slightly more tricky than the average release, but the windows version is good, and I'm about to test my latest to the osx version.  Fingers crossed on that!
