Yea, but you need a tank buster ;)

It may be that one of the available-from-the-start turret types may have helped you a lot there.

Sentinel frigates make for nice tank sandwiches - 100k armor pierce..

Otherwise, I'm inclined to agree - Its a tank. Shields didn't quite do tanks justice before, now armor does.  :D

It's one of those cases where if the siege could have shot at the tanks it would have helped a fair bit (though against 70 probably not enough), but then you'd run into problems when attacking a system that the siege would waste time picking off tanks when it should be hulling guardians ;)

well, against similar mk levels of ships, fleet starships seem to do fine
(except for the zenith one - as i recall it has a weird 0.01xpolycrystal mult, making it useless vs tanks).

Siege starships, back in their old old form of engine destroyers might have been useful, but now we have riot stars for that.. and honestly, thinning out the enemy by engine damage is one of the better ways to deal with anything.

Yea, even a single Riot could probably have done more to keep those tanks off the station than anything else available, though with the auto-self-engine-repair stuff now it's not nearly as stark.

I think I missed it too, but I noticed it at some point recently, and in gameplay during a recent test.  Basically stuff won't stay engine dead anymore, at least stuff like fighters.

One of you folks with the massive spider turret balls would know ;)

On the space tanks thing, yea, even a MkI has 30000 armor, which basically means anything you have at the start will only do 5% of their standard damage.  Not sure how to handle that, but thinking about it.
Um, maybe, use them so you don't face them? :)

I don't think that would work.  I once played a game where I was using L. Gatlings and the AI was as well.

EDIT: didn't bombers used to counter tanks?  Perhaps we've found the bomber starship's niche!

I checked and on low ship caps space tank has 120k armor... are you guys completely sure that armor value should scale with ship caps? 30k armor can be countered by missile turret on tanks... but 120k is not touchable by anything.

Though on reflection it makes sense; otherwise it would get much less useful on the lower caps.

In the case of the tank, I think that 30k is just too much to work properly with the rest of the game, though I could be wrong.

On a different note - are golems no longer marked on planetary summaries? I can't find any on my map and I scouted quite large part of map.

They should still be there.  It's possible they're just clustered in the tiny portion you haven't yet scouted, or that there's some sort of unknown bug.
