I would love to help during the beta, but I am a bit swamped right now.
Though, if you have some specific issues you would like people to report on, I guess I could squeeze in some time to do it.

somthing seems a bit off, at difficulty 8 with non-advanced hybrids enabled on one of the AIs, there were 30+ hybrids adjacent to my homeworld in the first 5 minutes... also, I got flattened by the madbombers first wave of 800 ships in the first 10 minutes, while my ship production was way slower with the new higher metal/crystal costs and scaled up stats
Known bug (http://www.arcengames.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=405) that causes the Hybrid spawners to gain build points at over 10x the rate.

I really like the new beta, the game looks really crisp :D However something indeed seem to be seriously of with the difficulty, maybe too much sledge hammer to little duck tape ;) Below screen cap is from a game with two random 7.6 AIs, I got steam rolled at the ~0:05:30 mark by 925 III/IV ships mainly tachyon fighters.

Wow, that's crazy.  Is it possible you stirred something up with your actions, or did they just show up?

At any rate, the next release will be out in a few hours and will be scaling the AI ships better, as well as doing some other much needed fixes.  Stuff like the hybrids are definitely completely out of whack at the moment, and it's possible that you ran into some other sort of spawner that's operating 20x faster than it should or something.  It's definitely a process to catch all that sort of thing!

They just showed up, I didn't have time to move my forces outside the home system.

lol, random "how the hell did that happen" bugs are my favorite kind!

edit: by the way, is the music available yet, or is that on the backburner?

And if they shred the player in under 6 minutes, even better :)

The music was supposed to be in one of the recent releases, I thought.  Yea, from the changelist looks like it was added in 3.704.

Didn't actually come out, though, because I never released the full installer.

Overall I like the changes in this version. And even more with the ones coming in 3708.

I want a super Z-power-gen.
In one of my games I now have -2 million net energy, while producing 1.7m. Fortunately I am currently not under attack.
Too tired to enter it into the bugtracker, but it would be a good idea to have the game start paused after loading, so you can get an overview of the situation.
