AI War APM Intensive?

APM stands for actions per minute and obviously doesn't matter in ai war as much as faster paced rts games, but when you're doing something as epic as rallying your troops, microing every harvester and generator, and guiding your troops so they can go in circle like movement (arc movement but more precise), do you think you're clicking really really fast?

not really. its usually considerably slower than I would be clicking for stuff in Spring or another rts..
and in Spring, I'm typically doing my 'high intensity action-giving' more often than I am in ai war. And worst case, in aiwar you can give commands while paused.. for some reason the 7 other people in the game tend to frown at me when i pause to give commands in Spring  ;)

AI war is very low APM because units can mostly look after themselves

Yea, I've taken whole systems with large fleets split across multiple control groups doing different things with maybe 30 total clicks/keypresses to set it up (while paused, generally) and maybe 10 correctional clicks later on.  Of course, those weren't close fights, etc.  With the autotargeting and the overkill prevention, you can have lots of ships that you never actually give an order to as an individual.

That said, I am intensely interested to know where the game gets high APM, and also which actions/conceptual-things-you-want-to-do require a large number of clicks/keypresses.

There are some youtube vids of Korean professional Starcraft players who average in the 300's. To note more people attend the Starcraft championships in Korea than go to the Superbowl in the US and top players mak 6 figure incomes.

It doesn't have to be APM intensive ever because you can always pause the game.

Yea, the you-can-do-everything-while-paused is a critical feature for avoid a "tense" interface.  But to the extent that we can make the game playable without having to pause, we want to.  People like me will generally pause to plan even if we don't have to, but it's good to have both approaches be viable.
