is there any way to see an AI type after game start if you pick random?

No, this is by design.  If you want to know the AI type, the idea is to not choose random.  If you choose the random AI type, part of the challenge is to figure out what it is doing, what rules it might be following.  If there's a lot of demand for a starting option that lets the random AI type names be shown after selection, I'll set that up. 

But in the beta it was the other way around, and people asked me to make them hidden, and I thought that was a nifty idea so I went with it. :)

Hidden is good, but by victory or defeat I'd want to know what I was fighting in case I want a rematch.

That's a really good point.  I'll make it so that it reveals the AI type at victory/defeat.  Added to my list!
