Running AI War server on a VPS?
« on: February 25, 2011, 01:18:51 pm »
I'm sorry if this is the wrong section, it just seems the most appropriate, as there may be a mod for htis.

So, is there a way to run AI War on a CLI Linux-based virtual private server?

I have no idea -- possibly.  Bear in mind that there is no headless "server" for AI War, though.  The host of the game is actually a full player, and needs to be able to run the full game.  The game does run under Linux under WINE, but depending on your graphics card, performance will vary.

See, that's the problem. My server is CLI only, so I can't run the game, unless it has CLI commands. Might I suggest making a server like that? :D

Sorry, we can't make a server like that without splitting the codebase, which there is no chance of us ever doing. We are too small, and addchanes too frequently, for that to be feasible. And there is no need for a sepaprate dedcated server in ai war, anyway, so it's doubly moot.
