AI getting cocky!
« on: November 28, 2010, 08:48:41 pm »
I was playing a few days ago, managing my fleet somewhere when I heard some taunt by the AI. Going into panic mode, I tabbed out to the Galaxy map and scanned my planets. Nothing. Filtered for enemy ships. Nothing. I could find absolutely nothing wrong, no planets lots, and the AI felt like harassing me anyway :P

I think it does it sometimes if you lose a lot of ships in a short space of time? Like a failed assault on them or something? Maybe?

If you attack a planet, belonging to the AI, with with a blob of ships and then leave the planet without doing anything significant (such as blowing up all the guardposts, the warpgate or the station) the AI will taunt you.

Failing a Attack also initiates the AI to taunt

along with Getting a Planet lost

and staying on a Planet long enough with a massive enough blob of death without Destroying the Warp , Com station or Guard posts

Well there was a Mk. III planet near me with a Mk. V Beam Frigate fabricator, so I launched an attack against the Mk. III Ion Cannon they had there, killed it, and got the heck out to rebuild the half of my fleet I lost and make repairs. However, the taunt did not come for a little while later, so maybe I just had a ship stuck there with no engines that didn't die for a while? It was funny none the less.

Correct , The AI needs to kill off the last attacker to count an attack as failed , otherwise the AI would be taunting us whenever we do hit and run Attacks

Yeah, I'm just not used to that. Thanks to the recent changes to the AI such as no turrets, stronger units, guardians, etc, I've shifted my tactics away from attacking and more to quick hit and run raids, so I'm sure I'll hear that more in the future.
