Cleanup drones have no purpose (v3.0.6.0)

Yeah, I like to try and make a visibly permanent dent with each raid or attempt to conquer. Sometimes I will pop into AI systems and try to lure ships into my turrets on the other side, piece by piece, and it's a bit redundant to destroy the same turrets as they're rebuilt in between visits.

For me cleanup drones work; send in my fleet to smash some turret blobs, drop in the cleanup drones in FRD, and as long as there aren't too many ships, they'll merrily do a good job of mopping up the turret debris (otherwise i end up dealing with the same turrets every time i go through a system).

Yes, they do that part ok. And then after they're finished and the military fleet moves away, the AI just rebuilds the same turrets in the same places again. So the perception becomes that clean up drones aren't very useful because they remove debris but... not for long.

If the AI has to use reinforcement points to do this, as Keith said, then it's still worth bringing clean up drones along. But this isn't mentioned anywhere in game so I have no way of knowing the real impact of clean up drones.
