'dong' sound
« on: July 26, 2011, 05:58:35 am »
Hey, I can't describe it better, but what is this 'dong' sound's purpose?
It seems to only occur when there is a threat in place and is there a way to get rid of it or at least understand what it's trying to tell me? :D

It occurs at least in every wave warning and other warnings. It's basically just a heads up so you'll notice the wave warning. At least that's what I think it is.

You can prolly turn it off in Sounds > Alerts sound volume.

I had the Alert sound replaced with the Defcon warning from Defcon for a while. I madea zip for it but I'm sure it's lost in the forums somewhere.

Jolly good! Let's meet up with the AI and have a nice sit down and talk.

In case we're not talking about the same sound: Take a look in \RuntimeData\Sounds, play the files until you find the one you're talking about. If the filename doesn't explain what the sound is, let us know which sound file it is, and we can tell you.

And if you don't like it, you can replace it with another OGG of the same name :)

If it's the sound I'm thinking of, it's there to tell you that a big wave is coming. It's just an alert sound to let you know to pull back your ships and prepare to defend something.
