A few questions about the current patch?
« on: August 25, 2010, 02:31:17 pm »
Can the ai warp in core defenses on a mark 1 world? (on a new game, this is the third time its happened since upgrading?) Are ai forcefields meant to be repairing themselves while under fire? (with the repair rate they have yeesh, you almost have to one shot it with firepower, again, not available at the start of the game.) Is it intentional that ai guard posts are basically better command stations being able to warp in both structures anywhere and stronger health/defenses?

As it is, eh, the game has many nice new additions, but seems to not have what made it fun, the challenging ai, is now more waiting to make an utter curbstomp of any mixed attack force with support and repair you try to throw at any world. Eh, i may be feeling the unease to a few things, but it does feel that way.

That depends on what you mean by "core defenses" and what options you're playing with (Hybrids are core-level and will show up on your border planets, if enabled). I can take a look if you post a save with a mark I world with something that seems like it shouldn't be there.

No, actually recently the delay between last-damaged to repairable was increased quite a bit for AI ships in the recent past.  If you can post a save where currently-under-fire forcefields are regenerating, please do so.

Not all of them can warp in stuff, but they are intended to be pretty strong which means a fair bit stronger than the current command stations (not sure if Chris intends to do anything new with them).

I'm sorry to hear that recent changes are impairing your ability to enjoy the game; it sounds like there are either some options you've enabled that might be tailored more for a different audience, or some bugs that are causing the game to be harder than intended, or both.

(The AI could be a technologist, if you set it to random/all.)
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

I know I have seen core turrets on MK II worlds in my "epic" game that has lived through multiple updates and is at > 32 hours right now. Core turrets only started appearing after guard post change patch - though, in my case, it could be a random thing dealing with how many updates the save has been through :)

Yea, I'm not sure in those cases as it could be hybrid builders placing those, but I don't know if either of you have hybrids enabled :)

Nope - no Hybrids. No Expansions enabled whatsoever.

I will see about posting a save - I don't think I took that system, shouldn't be too hard to find :)

Hrm - seems I was mistaken on the Mark level of the world I saw cores on - it is a MK IV world, non homeworld (I would hope) and not a homeworld bordering planet [could have sworn it was lower MK - maybe I was thinking of a different planet]. Is that supposed to happen? Again, it only started after the recent update to guard posts.

Save attached, see system Charvil [lower left] - you might hear a few booms right on loading... >.> sent in some suicide scouts to confirm things and saved at the exact moment they entered the system.

Yea, IV worlds can have Core Turrets, though in general their turret selection isn't nearly so bad as a homeworld.
