I'm just wrapping up my first full multiplayer game of Shadows, and I am really enjoying the champions and the new game options. Absolutely fantastic work, thank you so much for making one of my absolutely favorite games.
I am also looking ahead into 2013 and there are some things that are making me very happy. As you probably have heard, Valve is throwing its weight into Linux. It seems pretty likely that the new hardware that they are going to be producing/selling is going to be running it. In line with this, Unity 4.0 just hit, and it has Linux support. You guys had the foresight to switch to the Unity engine, and I think it has worked out, at least from a player standpoint.
So... I'm here to say that, personally at least, I have been waiting for a long time for Linux to become a viable gaming platform (literally more than a decade) and so I'm going to throw as much support (read: money) as I can manage at it's success. I'm really hoping that you have plans to upgrade to the new Unity, and that Linux will "just work", or you know require an absolute minimum of effort to get going. I hope that, but I don't believe that it'll happen, because that never happens. So I'm here to ask you to please look into it, you have at least one customer, as I'm sure you already know, who wants this, but also to say that there is a glorious new thing called Kickstarter, and if you need money to make this happen please consider putting together a KS project so that I can throw money at you and convince others to do the same. I have great hopes that I will continue to be able to play AI War for many years to come on whatever platform I happen to be using, as for the last several years it has been an amazing and challenging way to spend my free time.
Thank you for kicking ass, taking names and taking the time to read my words. I wish you much luck with 2013 and beyond and early look forward to your future work.
