Question about license keys and Zenith
« on: July 25, 2010, 07:52:54 pm »
I bought 2 copies of Ai war and have the 2 license keys so that when I have a friend over, we could play over LAN.  I assume that I need to buy 2 copies of Zenith to play with 2 players?  Just double checking.  Thanks!

Well, strictly speaking, you don't need to, but it's considerate to buy two copies if you have two people playing at the same time.  But the game doesn't have any DRM built into it, as far as I know.

Back when I was first starting, rather then just play a 3 hour demo, my friend just had me install it with his cd key, so that way we were able to play most of a campaign together, and then I decided that I quite liked it, and so I got my own copies of both games.  But the game is still installed using his keys.....  Which doesn't make the slightest bit of difference to anyone.  The game works fine, Arcen has my money, I have my keys, etc.

So there isn't any need to have more then one key, but it is nice to support such an awesome game company.  If it's always the same friend, maybe you could talk him into buying his own copy, and then you wouldn't need to fret about it. :P

Shadow, you're exactly right on what you'd need to do in terms of TZR while also remaining in compliance with the license terms. Many thanks for your support, and glad you and your friend are enjoying the game so well!

Dragon is also correct that we don't have DRM and that we neither make efforts to identify nor initiate litigation against people who do infringe.  With any sort of digital goods like this, we fully recognize that we are essentially being patronized in the classical sense of the word: people who value what we do and who have the means to do so support us, and it's pretty much as simple as that. We really appreciate it when people abide by the license terms, as we tried to make them as fair as reasonably possible, but in the end it's "the honor system" always.

Again, many thanks for your support!
